What is your experience w/ Excelsior College? What are the pros & cons about this school and what was or is your concentration?

They have classroom courses on Fort Bliss held at the Sergeants Major Academy. Is this a good college to attend? I do know they are regionally accredited. And I also know that SMA Dailey earned his degree at Excelsior.

I got both my Associates ('86) and Bachelors ('96) through Excelsior. I didn't have any problem getting into law school with their degree (JD, TAMU '14). It's a good program.

I earned my Bachelors ther. No problems at all. They understood when I had field duty and had assignments to do. Just keep professors in the loop.

I earned my Associates in 2002 from Excelsior and had no issues transferring credit to other schools to complete my Bachelors.

I got my BS in Criminal Justice and my MS in Health Sciences from EC. Good school, but time management has to be a skill you've mastered if you go the online route. It's very easy to fall behind if not. Good luck.

I just recently became an alumni when I received my Bachelors in Criminal Justice - Homeland Security... this school is very military friendly and works with you... the professors are very good at working with military personnel as long as you give them a heads up... way better than Univ. Of Phoenix
There are some classes that students take that make it hard to do posts because you might not have enough students... but the teachers get involved to make the requirements... the advisors are very helpful and the Veterans office is on top of thr GI Bill stuff as long as you do your part...
The only issue sometimes is that the quizzes that are given and created by the techs who make them are wrong, but ince in a blue moon, but I have, but I have not had issuea to get credit for the right answer even if it is marked wrong....

My undergrad is from Excelsior and I'm pleased. They managed to combine my 180+ semester hours from schools all over the place into a legit degree with a minimal residency requirement. What stands out to me is what they are not: 1.) NOT a for-profit. 2.) NOT strictly cyber-existence only. Excelsior is part of the NY University system and they've been around a while. (Excelsior was Regents in years past I believe.) What you don't want, it seems to me, is a degree of questionable repute and THAT is associated with for-profit, on-line only outfits. On that note, I can tell you that a senior civilian hiring manger I know stated emphatically, "a University of Phoenix degree = resume to the bottom of the pile." This is because UP has nearly had their accreditation yanked for shady crap and they've become a symbol of the junk for-profit degree. Excelsior is legit.

My opinion this is one of the best online for military members. The flexibility with the courses and the simplicity of the online interaction for the courses makes it much more simple. They have a dedicated staff that will tell you through every step and make sure you get all the credits you have earned either from previous schools or your military courses transferred over.

I believe the data is demonstrating that Excelsior College is a first-class institution. Why? There is an interesting phenomenon at Excelsior. They are attracting adjunct faculty from Ivy League and Public Ivy (and other great historic universities). In particular, female professors, perhaps interrupting a career to have a family and thus in need of continuing their academic career via remote instruction, are bringing a remarkable depth of scholarship and experience to the virtual classrooms. With their first-class teaching technology, their commitment to online learning, their long history with the military, I believe Excelsior College is poised to become one of the great nonprofit, state-owned alternative education providers. [Note: I am neither an alumnus nor professor at Excelsior College. I am a professor at Erskine College and Seminary. In my role, I research other schools with superior “new-line” resources and reputation.]

I completed a BSLA concentrating in Administeation and Management in 2010 then rolled into a MSIT program at Capella University. Excelsior accepted my transfer credits plus military schools and experience. I only took one course from Excelsior, Domestic Terrorism, which was exceptional.

I had a great experience!!!

I finished my BS in National Security at Excelsior last year. It's a great school. They are one of the forerunners of distance education, before online college became widely popular. With that, they are naturally better at the distance learning concept than most other schools that are still adapting their structure to meet the demands.

Their transfer credit and external credit policies are by far the best you will find around. This allows you to have even better control over the speed of your completion, if you are willing to work even harder to simultaneously complete additional credit worthy courses/exams. At one point I was in a class with excelsior, while studying for a CLEP exam, and also completing an external ACE evaluated course. It was rough, but I was driven in order to stay on my personal completion schedule.

I recommend every person I talk to too atleast get a transcript evaluation from Excelsior, just to see if it will put them further ahead in their program.

In the military one moves a lot and collects credits from many sources. Excelsior College gives them a place to be packaged into a degree.
Some learners will still want to attend lectures at their local college. Some will do that internet thing. Some will test out.
The staff is willing to help all of them and provide direction and access.
Excelsior college was literally made for folk like us.
