What is your favorite AFRC Vacation spot?

Where have you gone for vacation while serving? My favorites were going Garmisch, GE and going on leave from Iraq all the way to the Hale Koa in Hawaii.

Post not only to share your story, but to let others get an idea of places to look into for their next vacation. AFRC usually has some pretty good deals.

I did make it to the the Hale Koa for a month a few years ago. Unfortunately, it was for surgery. My best AFRC vacation is still to come. We are headed to Tetum Mexico for my brother'a wedding. They got me rental car for a total of $60 for the six day stay.

My favorite is the Edelweiss in Garmisch, Germany and would highly recommend it to anyone!

You can always check out the camps that they have near Kilauea on the Big Island. One of those secret places that not many know about.

We often take advantage of military hotels. When we go to Boston (My Wife's home town), we typically stay at the Constitution Inn at the Charlestown Naval Yard (Right next to the USS Constitution). We've also stayed at Wainwright hall on Ft. Myer Virginia when visiting Washington DC, and have also stopped off at the Navy Lodge at Naval Air Station Key West when down that way. We've also rented a cottage right ON the BEACH in Florida on Patrick Air Force Base. Much less expensive than using local hotels in each case!

I liked Hawaii and Garmisch a lot they were both great places. A couple years back we stayed at Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City, SD and seeing Mount Rushmore and the Buffalo in Custer State Park was pretty awesome as well!
