They were more like VOQ's. At Vance during pilot training it was a requirement for single pilot candidates to live in them. I lived in them for 6 months, 4 months were casual duty waiting for class start the other 2 was when I was in class. The room was fine but the additional pilot training harassment was not so. I remember being written up for having a few crumpled pieces of paper in my trashcan and for leaving the lights on, a few other little stupid things. They called us out on it in front of our class for every room write up. The funny thing is that they left us alone during casual status, but hooked us up when we started the flight line portion. If you had articles that were funny to call you out on they felt compelled to do that as well. Luckily I did not, although my neighbor had two F-15 desk models, he got razzed all the time for them, about thinking he's going to fly F-15's before pilot training even starts. Although, to be fair all of us did go in with high hopes of flying fast pointy nosed things.

One day I show up to my room to see a letter to report to the housing office. The lady explains that I am being forced out because they are renovating. She says that the group commander is allowing us to move off base or we can be put on a waiting list for the dorm to open up. I said no brainer, off base it is!
