Their births. I was present at all four and assisted with five (I had to jump in when my wife and another women jumped to the final stages of labor simultaneously and the other father passed out)

Maybe carrying him on a hike in the Norwegian mountains and glaciers near the coastal fjords with the Norwegian Mountain Touring Organization, when he was 38 pounds. He was most often hiking and playing on his own - the Scandinavians called him "Little Reindeer." He still loves the mountains, lives on one in North Carolina and followed me and his mother in becoming a Nurse. He married a Nurse. I later married another woman whose mother was a WWII Army Nurse.

Eldest: Probably when I handed him an old school "Dick and Jane" book reader of all the stories in the series for 1st grade. He was 2 at the time, so I thought I'd teach him and work him through maybe 6 stories a night until we were done. Yeah, he ended up reading through 40 of them without my help, about 50% of the book!
Youngest: He just turned one, so, probably the first time he laid his head on my chest without crying for his mother, and just left it there.

I was still in the NG when my son was born. I had missed a drill and still had to make it up. While my wife was in labor, the rear detachment NCO called me to coordinate helping with the unit return ceremony from deployment. I told him my wife was in labor at that very moment and he simply responded "Well Sh*t. My timing just sucks doesn't it? Call me back whenever you get a chance, congratulations."

Taking a canoe trip down the Guadalupe River, I had never been in a canoe before, and i loved the time together, he went on to be an Eagle Scout, a Scoutmaster and raised four Eagle sons.
