It's a no-brainer for me: Vilseck (Rose Barracks), Germany and Yongsan Garrison, Seoul, South Korea.

I enjoyed Korea so much, that right before my first tour was done, I extended another year!

It's a toss up for me. Germany and Korea were both great. I was in Vielseck just as they were really building it up. Brand new barracks etc. Korea....was just fun. Good training and plenty to do on off duty time.

I really enjoyed Korea. Of course, I was an Army guy on an Air Force base for most of it. That helped.

Definitely Germany! Centrally located, everything is a train ride away! Lived near Mainz and loved the Rhein and the Wine fests! Best tour of duty, minus Graf! Ha!

Looking back on it, Okinawa was my favorite overseas duty station (I did two tours on Okinawa --- one at Camp Foster and one at Camp Kinser). I might add, however, that it was also my only traditional overseas duty station.

Now, that is not to say that it was my favorite overseas assignment ... that would be a toss-up between Geneva, Switzerland and Pretoria, South Africa (I did a Marine Security Guard tour at each of these locations).

I also did embassy duty assignments in Moscow, U.S.S.R. and Beirut, Lebanon; as well as several temporary duty assignments throughout Europe and the Middle East.

I loved Germany, it was a great place to spend my 1st 3 years in the Service.

I never had an overseas assignment. It was go to Kansas or go to Korea. Go to Texas or go to Korea. Got to Afghanistan or go to Iraq. There has losers if there are winners.

Yongsan, Korea (downtown Seoul, 3+ bedroom apartment off post, awesome nightlife etc). Everywhere else in the country is pretty rough.
