I would like to believe that we learn new things nearly everyday. Being a college student makes that a little more true for me than others, but I still think that it rings true. What is something that you enjoy learning about?

I have taken an interest in learning Web and Android/IOS development. It really amazed me as to how many FREE resources are out there for people to just study it and learn on their own!

And if you get good enough there is definitely money to be made there.

Honestly this is about to sound generic but the art of leadership. It's so intriguing to see all the different styles and methods used to accomplish the same task. There is so much to learn from and there is no true perfect way. There is also many mistakes out there, why make the same one? I always want to learn more that way I can better lead my guys when the time comes.

Well, sir, for someone in your position at the very beginning of your career that actually makes me happy to hear. Definitely a skill that a young officer will have to learn to master, sooner rather than later if you know what I mean.

Well, I had the honor of being enlisted for 3 years on active duty. I was led by some of the best and the not so much. I used to think back often to how many of their decisions affected me. Not so much the initial decision but the 2nd and 3rd order effects. I saw many squared and high speed soldiers leave. I don't want that to happen under me. I want to cultivate a team environment where everyone knows their purpose and sees where they fit into the big picture. Have strong NCOs that lead by example and take care of their soldiers as if they were their own blood. If there is work to be done let's do it the best we can. If there is nothing to be done let's invest back into the soldiers and put them into the prime position to make the next step in their career.

I love history...all kinds of history. I especially like to read autobiographies from some of our military leaders. I don't like reading stories about battles because most of the time they are written by people who like to hear themselves speak. I like to sit and listen to conversations about life and the workplace and processes as well. You can learn a lot just by listening.

I guess I had better love history because it seems it is being rewritten to suit a lot of Americans and if that is the case there will be a lot to relearn and unlearn...LOL!!!
