Must guys there came out of Ranger bat. While walking at Fort Polk with a team leader he yelled at the top of his lungs "Rangers Lead The Way" and the LT walk by jump back for being so shocked. I spent my first 5 years in the Army there. Now that I'm deployed, I try to salute and give their unit's motto. If all else fails, All the Way always works. Once, I bet a fellow service member I could say "Howdy, Sir" and keep my stripes. Of course, this is only in a casual meeting, and not watch or duty specific. The prescribed is Good Morning or Good After noon, Good Evening Sir or Ma'am. There could be a unit preference such as "Airborne Sir/Ma'am, the other responds with "All the Way".
