I always liked breakfast from the DFAC. If we're talking MREs then it would be a tie between corned beef hash and beef stew, do they still have those?

I don't care which service's DFAC you eat at the Yakisoba is always the same and is what I look forward to the most! Granted it's nothing like real Yakisoba but I still like it.

P.S. is it still Army food if the DFAC is run by OCN contractors?

I didn't mind MREs while I had them, with the exception of the omlette.

Never had Army food, but the best thing I ever had at the DFAC was Sauerbraten.

As long as the cooks in the mess hall do not have to touch it and I don't have to eat it all Army/Military chow is good. This from an old soldier.

old school...dehydrated pork patty and its (not shown) brother, dehydrated beef patty. Eat them dry, drink a canteen of water...no more hunger for like two days.

you could actually feel it rehydrate in your stomach! lol

Sbarro Pizza... I was always amazed that EVERY Army base I've ever visited had one. Not poking fun here --just venting my jealousy. The pizza was marginal but, it WAS pizza... and one HAD to go to an Army base to get it.

The corned beef and yakisoba from the DFAC are my favorites if I HAVE to eat in a DFAC. If I HAVE to eat MREs, then it is either the chili-mac or the pork rib thing. But if I have a choice, I will bring food from home.

Our cooks in Germany did a huge birthday cake once a month for every body who had a birthday that month. Chocolate on one side, swirled yellow and chocolate in the middle and yellow on the other. It wasn't grand but it felt a little like home, they decorated it and everything.

The DFAC on FOB Kalsu Iraq during my second deployment had these chicken wings they made on Saturday that to this day I think were the best ever. They were called bite you back wings. The cook had special sauce sent from home to make them. I will say this. They were amazing but about an hour later they made your rear burn like Satan's unholy home. Yet they were so good I punished myself every Saturday to eat them.

I still have nightmares about eating "C" rations that were older than I was.
Beef stew was ok but the ham & lima's (can't write what we use to call them).
I even got an accessory pack one time with a Lucky Green's in them.

I don't think i could narrow it down. There were things that I liked about the DFAC when i was at DLI (which for those who don't know, it is an Army Post). Other times, I liked what i brought from home or my dorm. But I have always liked MREs, call me crazy but I had great experiences with them at BMT.
