What is your favorite weapon, weapons platform, weapons system?

Not many things feel better than recoil and seeing destruction laid forth by a highly engineered piece of machinery. What is your favorite? Do you have a good story?

mine has to be the 50 caliber Barrett, the weapon you only have to fire once, doesn't matter if your target is behind a brick wall.!

It's not the pay, it's not the benefits, I'm in the service for the weapons. So this is very hard. I have never used a weapon that I didn't like.

I won't even try, but c4 is up there, and so is the M240. Yeah, I'll go with that. If I were gonna go Rambo it, I'd be taking a 240 a lot of ammo, and some C4. Otherwise every weapon has it's purpose and job, and it's hard to pick. One does one thing well, another, another. I love em all.

As for weapons I've personally used I'd go for the ole Ma Deuce. The M2 .50 is one very fun weapon. I will probably get gigged for this but I always liked the M14.

Now CIWS system in the Navy always impressed me. Looked like R2D2 and sounded a lot like an A-10 firing its guns...brrrrrrrrrpppppp!

Not being qualified on many of those impressive items mentioned above, my personal fascination is with the CSS Hunley, the first successful combat submarine. "Successful" in that it sank the Housatonic, not that it didn't kill every crew that sailed her, including H. L. Hunley himself.

The H&K MP5 9mm with a laser sight. I had the chance of a lifetime to be attached to a great group of guys at Camp Lane near the Pakistan border back in '09. They took my issued M16 Lawn Dart and told me to find something in their armory that I could use in a more strategic manor. I went for broke and snagged the aforementioned, MP5.

I started off almost 20 years ago as an M60 Gunner, so that will always have a place in my heart. Since then I would say my M16 and then M4 has been a good weapon. Can't be the effect of the 50 cal but if I am picking a weapons system that I bet my life on beside my own crew serve or personal weapon I will take the A10 (HOG)

Everyone had to qual on the M-16, of course, but when I qual'd with the M-60 I found my favorite weapon. Yeah, it was 13 lbs and you had to hump around 750 rounds of that heavy 7.62mm ammo but once you learned to use it, it was crazy accurate if it had to be and was a great area suppression weapon.

I talk to some of the young soldiers I work with now and I guess the 240 (?) is a lot lighter and still chambers 7.62 but I'm going to have to stick with the 60.

I love the M240. It lays down a murderous rate of fire. I make sure to say that in my OPODRs also. But when you have to do some damage I use my battle wagon. The 25mm Bushmaster. It is great for finding snipers. The Optics in this thing are awesome. If you are in the woods trying to hide from this thing you are going to have a bad day. (So tell me again how you are just like the infantry!)

M-60 qualification was the most fun I ever had at a qual range. To this day (almost 20 years later) I still think the "pig" was my favorite to shoot. Humping it through the woods was not as much fun.

M79 with a buckshot ( M576 ) in the tube for close contact and HE for distance.. The flechette round was worthless. Got to love that guy in the picture, obviously not me..

And my colt....still got one of those. Possession of an M79 with ammo would be problematic now days.

Carried a pig for a year, hated it. Nothing like hitting the dirt and having that charging rod trying to impale you thru your vest...

To be honest, I LOVE the FN-Fal platform. I have mine set up with a combat sight as well as a scope for long-range. The only down side is that it, along with the magazines, are a little heavier than my AR platform. However, the extra range and punch make up for it.

I will also have to add that while in my unit, when I wasn't flying, I was the SAW guy for my squad. I loved that as well. However, who can afford to buy one, along with the Class III stamp to go along with it. Let's not even get into the cost of belted 5.56 ammo.

Spooky and Specter Gunships are awesome to behold. Between what I saw on deployment and what I witnessed when I lived on Ranger Camp between Eglin and Hurlburt Ranges I was amazed. At Eglin I would go out out in the woods at night and watch them rain hell down on the earth below.

For an individual system, a minigun mounted on a lift for use out the sun/moon roof of a fully up-armored 4x4... miniguns are amazing

I love the M2, never get tired of hearing it fire.....but, as a combat engineer, the MICLIC!! 1800lbs of C4 going off is a site that never gets old!! If you have never seen one go off or know what it is, YouTube Search MICLIC. Be prepared to say "that's bad ass"!!
