I'll Start. AR 350-1 Appendix G shows all annual mandatory training. AR 600-20 Chapter 4 is Exercise of Military Authority. Article 31 UCMJ is your right to remain silent... Mostly looking for gems buried in our mountains of regs that are useful to line unit NCOs.

We use a lot in TRADOC but...TR 350-6 and AR 670-1 just to name a couple are quick-draw regs.

I constantly use these manuals during rotations coaching rotational units at NTC: ADRP 1-02, ADRP 2-0, ADRP 3-0, ADRP 3-37, ADRP 3-90, ADRP 4-0, ADRP 5-0, ADRP 6-0, ADRP 6-22, & ADRP 7-0.

In my position now, it is probably 670-1 and some numerous Cadet Command regulations that tell me how to go about doing my job. In the past it was the various staff officer manuals that covered the Operations Process and MDMP.

I can't imagine framing any AR and hanging it on the wall. There are too many and they all have their application. I will however share something that guided me: My men will work just as hard for me as I work for them. They were the ones who got things done. It was my job to make sure they had everything they needed to do it: Training, equipment, food, shelter, clothing, medical care, spiritual care, everything, as well as a clear mission and recognition when they accomplished it. They never had to worry about retribution from above me. I was their buffer. But heaven help them, there was no buffer from my displeasure. Often a look is all that was needed. It's the same credo that I lived by as a leader in civilian life.

AR 600-20 as it defines that the commander is responsible for a Soldiers well-being. This extends into areas such as spiritual, financial and personal life. When people make their lives the commanders business there is pretty much nothing off-limits if it impacts work.

The best "Go-to" I had was what I called "The Reasonable Man" theory. If something came up I would think on it and ask myself "would a reasonable man make this decision?" The solutions I came up with were often not within the standards of Manuals or Regulations.
I really didn't care.

My go-to regs and manuals are mostly mos specific. Leadership is what NCOs do. Training a Soldier to do their job correctly, legally, and safely is a lot more important to me than the unachievable amount of 350-1 training.

AR 635-200, AR/DA Pam 670-1, AR/DA Pam 623-3, AR 350-1, FM 7-22, AR 600-9, AR 600-20 and ATP 6-22.1 are some of my go to manuals. Just to name a few, there are a bazillion more of course.

In 1985 prior to Colombia Field Manual 100-20 - Military Operations in Low Intensity Conflict, was required reading, after Colombia, Zun Tzu The Art of War too. After learning that the rebels use The Art of War. Both are applicable to today's wars.

Depended on the topic. My go to document was the one that provided the policy or doctrine for that topic. Be it 670-1 for uniform or any of the 7 series for leadership.

Give Forscom (FC) 350-1 a try, it goes into so much more detail on Appx G items that are applicable to Forscom Soldiers. You need a CAC to access this reg through the FORSCOM .mil site.
