What is your Opinion of JROTC programs in High schools

I did 4 years in NJROTC. Great program. Like everything, it's not for everyone. Just like football or the band isn't for everyone.

my sis-in-law is a school teacher...she told me some of the kids in the JROTC are future military members But there are also either some problem children (staff hoping they might get some discipline and some just looking for an easy A
side note - a private college in my hometown makes you take MIL SCI 101...

When I was in High School at Shawnee Mission East we had Navy NJROTC and although I wasn't part of it, I thought it was an excellent program and my hats off to all involved. Since I have retired we have Marine NJROTC at Shawnee Mission North and it sounds like a good program also. Have something like Jr Marines too (Younger than High School) I think all the programs are sponsored by the Navy League of Greater Kansas City.

I was never a part of it.. however, Sir.. The young adults who join this high school program appear more respectable towards other people, they appear concerned about how other people see them.. they also display a respect for our flag and our country.. I think its a GOOD program.. and aside from this they ware their pants high enough to cover their butts... GOOD Program !!

A member of our Marine Corps League detachment is an instructor. Last year our detachment decided to give the two instructors award certificates which required some research. I was duly impressed with the criteria these instructors have to meet to even get into the program. As for the program with this retired Marine SgtMajor and Navy Captain, aces! The students are well mannered, carry themselves maturely and excel in academics. Wished my sons participated.

My local school district has a JROTC program and it seems to produce good kids or maybe that is just the kind that it attracts. I think that it is a good program to have.

My son attended ROTC and I recommended fo all high school students very good program. My son did it in Puzan Korea CSM Johnson RIP
