What is your take of the viral West Point photo of raised fists? Do you think it was political, racial, or just plain dumb?

After the photo went viral online, the women faced accusations they were trying to make a political statement in uniform and were violating Defense Department rules. Some noted that raised fists are associated with Black Lives Matter,

West Point clears black cadets over raised-fists photo
The 16 female, African-American cadets who appeared in a photograph with raised fists in uniform will not be punished for their controversial "Old Corps Photo."

It could be that I'm just old, but I didn't even put the "Ferguson" or "Black Lives Matter" tag on it - it was "Black Power." In any case, it was still political - and they should have been handed their asses as they got kicked out of the Academy.

So I assume you would agree that anyone in the Military who displays a Confederate Flag either on their vehicle or in their quarters should be kicked out as many in the black community see this as a symbol of racial hatred and slavery and thus making a political statement.

Actually, Tom, yes I do. It is a representation of secessionists and seditionists that attempted a full-on civil war to maintain the slaves of their collective states in the perpetual servitude. Yes, it's the battle standard of just one state militia, but it is now widely identified as a symbol of the entire Confederate movement, no matter what the history-illiterates try to claim.
Flying the Stars and Bars pays homage to people that tried to overthrow the government of the US to continue their racist ideologies. For those that have read the Articles of Secession filed by the states that filed, every one is full of references to continuing the practice.
So, yes. If a person wants to fly the flag of traitors, treat them as such and put them back on the street.

In this thread, a bunch of old white guys will get really upset about a bunch of people they don't know doing something they don't understand and then demand extreme action be taken.
Damn, I'm glad we didn't have social media back when the rest of us were that age.

The reality, however, is that we do have social media and this picture, intended or unintended, sends a message that predictably can and likely will be misconstrued as supporting a racial agenda.

CPT Kurk Harris - To be honest, this is the internet. There's always some group willing to misconstrue or be offended VERY LOUDLY. There are also people who will happily shoehorn the tiniest thing into their agenda. We're going to have to turn down the sensitivity a bit. This is the new reality.
