What is your view on Science Fiction movies?

Just and idea to kill the time after Father's Day!
Some have indicated on RP that the order of merit of the movies is not correct. I say see all 100 and enjoy the stories! I can't wait for the sequel to the movie Independence Day. Its called Independence Day Resurgence and its coming out on 24 June 2016!

Although I voted that I like SciFi, I have to admit that I prefer reality. Not reality TV. Just reality. So much of the SciFi that I've grown up with has been surpassed by SciReality that it's lost much of its allure. To be honest, Dune is the only SciFi that remains truly visionary to me

I like good science fiction. Fell in love with it in 1977 when Star Wars came out. First and only movie that has ever lived up to it's hype.

Yes! I recently discovered Edgar Rice Burrows. His better known works include Tarzan, Journey to the Center of the Earth. He wrote a series about Mars that was made into the movie John Carter--the books are better. You can buy the Kindle version of 31 Burrows books for under $5. Good books for long flights or pulling the duty.

I was curious why you added "No, I like to read books and magazines instead." since Science Fiction is primarily a book genre LTC Private RallyPoint Member
I enjoyed Blade Runner as a movie and Dr. Strangelove is a classic which could also be considered to be science fiction but at the time it seemed all top real. As a child, I enjoyed by I learned to enjoy H.G. Wells, Jules Verne and John Wyndham [Day of the Tryfids, Midwich Cookies, etc.] and other writers.
Tolkien was a favorite later in life. Plan 9 from Outer Space was so bad that it is actually good.

People misunderstand Sci-Fi, much of it was supposed to be bad enough to keep parents from coming to the Drive In, The Kids didn't care what it was
