What makes Hillary Clinton appealing to voters?

Bernie Sanders is running on the platform of social revolution, promising equality on many different fronts and the fueling attacks on Corporate America. Hillary Clinton speaks with a much more moderate voice in her appeal to all political factions in the all-too-likely scenario of a Clinton-Trump ticket, while still claiming to tout progressive ideals. With "The Bern" seemingly aflame everywhere around, why is the former senator and Secretary of State in many ways "running the table" amongst Democrats (and Republicans distancing themselves from neoconservative and populist ideals)? After Super Tuesday, Clinton overwhelmingly took control of delegates coming from the South- this speaks volumes when considering she is obviously appealing to both minority and older majority voters in those states, something obviously key to winning the Democratic nomination.

We're all mostly veterans here- where do you stand? What do you think (particularly as veterans) about her potentially becoming your next Commander-in-Chief, regardless of whether you think she'll win or not? Both conservatives and liberals (and anywhere in between) are welcome to chime in.

SSG Drew Cook I think Hillary is a bad choice. Then again I feel that way about the DNC and the RNC in general. I heard her talking last night about how America never stopped being great, and I wanted to punch a kitten. Really? We don't have a huge unemployment rate? Our economy is not bouncing based around the price of oil right now? We are not lagging behind other first world nations in education? The only thing that America is number one in is the ability to wage a war. So I think the first thing she needs to do is stop spraying sunshine up our asses and tell it like it is, in the interest of fairness, I will say this is true of most of the candidates.

I'm pretty much a centrist in politics (read as 'raging liberal'), and I think that Hillary Clinton is not a good choice. I think a lot of older women are backing her strictly because she is female. I think that two 'celebrity' presidential nominees running against each other perfectly gives the world a snapshot of America right now. The Clinton name recognition gives her as much of a bump as Trump, maybe even more, due to political involvement.

I believe her defining characteristics are:

She believes no one will fact check her, and is offended when they do.

She believes she is so much smarter than us, that she can speak nonsense and we will believe.

She wants power for power's sake.

She does not believe that the rules apply to her or anyone who supports her.

She has no conscience, and is justified in destroying anyone that stands in in her way, by whatever means necessary.

She and/or her husband sell their influence to the highest bidder.

Any of us who have dealt exclusively with classified email and special access programs would be making little rocks out of big rocks if we had cut and pasted SAP information into regular email traffic and been caught. We would have been charged by the UCMJ for treason, aiding and abetting the enemy, etc. SAP is of the highest classification and must be protected at all costs. It is serious , grave and damaging to the national security of our country if it falls into the wrong hands. In this case, there is very little doubt that her unclas email traffic was not compromised. Mrs. Clinton tried to play this off previously by playing dumb. I specifically remember her comment to a question about wiping the hard drive clean: "You mean with a cloth or something?" She and her husband have been taking monetary contributions to the tune of millions of dollars (while she was in a government role) from nations who brutalize women and children. She throws around women's rights like there is no tomorrow. However, she has looked the other way while her husband was philandering with his pants down, literally. Many of the women whose space he had invaded without their consent had their careers ruined. Mrs. Clinton essentially looked away while all of this was going on. There are at least ten witnesses/victims. Ask yourself why their stories don't count when Mr. Bill Cosby's accusers' stories do. From one end of her mouth she talks about the Republicans as if they are the most evil people on the planet. From the other end she talks about love and peace and how we should be unifying the nation. Her SEC STATE track record is dismal. Under her tenure the Arab Spring took off. ISIS was spawned under her tenure as Obama's SEC STATE. She did not answer the 3 AM phone call when our Benghazi brothers were murdered. She has that on her hands. Also, she told outright lies to the families of those individuals. She told them it was because of a video, while that very evening she told her daughter it looked like a case of terrorism. Don't even think about blaming Obama's predecessor. It is time the current occupant stands up and takes responsibility for his own and his staff's inaction and policies. She is under criminal investigation and rightly so. She should not be allowed to be nominated as a presidential candidate until the charges are cleared, if they are. If she is elected, she would be the first President to have American blood on her hands for inaction as a previous cabinet member. God help us all.

My mom liked Bill, so she thinks Hillary would be more of the same. My dad and I support Sanders, and the way Hillary ripped off all of his talking points after he blew up over the summer kind of burned any credibility she had for me. I will take her over any day to the other choices. If John Kasich would've had a chance I would be comfortable with him. He was part of the Success of the Clinton Administration. I think her main positive points are:
1. As a attorney and as a senator, she has experience in government and the law.
2. As Sec'y of State, she understands the world of foreign affairs.
3. She can work with other politicians, even those who oppose her.
4. She is not a flaming racist, bigot, homophobe, or misogynist.
5. She is not proposing things that are clearly unconstitutional.
6. She is not a near-fascist, doesn't whip her audiences up into a violent frenzy.
7. She is not supported by White Supremacist organizations.
But mostly, I'd like to see Arab leaders having to show respect to a woman.

Responding to the original question, it's all about the packaging and the money. Democratic Party power brokers stood up a South-side Chicago political light-weight whose primary appeal was his charm and presentation. They also calculated that a significant number of voters would demonstrate their "progressive" nature and/or assuage their perception of our country's past social wrongs by voting for Mr Obama. In Mrs Clinton, we have the opportunity to elect our first female President and correct more social injustice. And, in her, the Party can also claim the additional bonus that she is a career politician experienced in the workings of Government and portray her as expert in matters of foreign policy. She enjoys celebrity status and she is all "sunshine and roses" on the campaign trail; i.e., she looks good and she sounds good in front of the crowd and in front of the camera. Unfortunately for the Country, it is Form over Substance. Ask any member of her security detail about her "True Colors" or where her heart is and what you will get nearly every time is a polite abstention meaning they will stay within the bounds of their oath of confidentiality. I will never forget asking a member of my extended family who was serving with the Secret Service on the Gore detail as the Clinton mid-term election was coming up for whom I should vote. After a long pause, his tortured response--that is, he took it as a serious question and one he was very uncomfortable answering--was simply, "Vote Republican." Do not think, ladies and gentlemen, that Hillary Clinton does not consider herself above you and, more importantly, above the law. She is an absolute elitist and she will use any means necessary to advance her view of a new world order. A world in which she would "reign" supreme.

Is it that she appeals to the voters or like so many other voters this year appears to be the lesser of evils? Several weeks ago, I saw a female voter interviewed who stated that she really didn't think Hillary was trustworthy but would probably vote for her anyway. She claims to be a feminist and touts the Republican "war on women" but yet has tied herself to one of the nations greatest female stalkers for political expediency.

Folks the decision coming in November is a choice between two extremes. For me it is easy. Trump has been successful in life and I think he can use those skills to help our nation recover its footing. I do not always agree with his methods, but he had the billion dollars and not me. Hillary, well I do not trust her period. Her betrayal of the men who died in Benghazi and her lack of honesty with the mishandling of national secrets makes it impossible for me to vote for her. You younger voters should read up on the good old days back in the 90's. Bill Clinton and SECDEF Les Aspen would not let armored vehicles be sent to Mogadishu, Somalia, or how that administration let thousands be massacred in Srebrenica. Option A- a former First Lady who used her husband to get a shot and is owned by lobbyists & political establishment... who apparently doesn't know she's a criminal.

Option B- a crooked businessman who got rich by screwing workers and competitors, has an ego that would take Presidential authorities way past Comstitutional limits & make Obama look like he followed rules, who is a criminal and apparently flaunts it.

I really don't know how anyone would want Option A or B... Unless they are blinded by Party loyalty and will go with what their Party tells them.

On the other - because they both are so horrible - I couldn't really argue if someone voted for either- the alternatives both suck.

I just pray people vote for a personal reason beyond what the news media or party establishments tell them is the reason.

Too many Americans are "in to" what is trendy, being a part of the "it" crowd. They want to be a part of history, regardless of any facts or logic. A great example was the Obama election in 08. The first Black President. That was more than enough to qualify for many peoples votes.
Now its the "First Woman President" getting votes, no mater what she has done, it doesn't mater.
If either Obama or Hilary were white men, they would never been given a second thought to be President. The average American voter knows more about Kim Kardashian than who are leaders are or what they are doing. Sad.

Very good question because I can't find anything appealing about her. I am not a Trump fan at all but I understand his popularity is based on his not being a career politician and that he routinely sticks it to the establishment.

I have no idea. We had a twofer the first two times - doesn't seem right they should have a 3rd term. I never understood his appeal to some folks, I'll never understand hers. I won't vote for Hillary, I won't vote for Trump. Neither are presidential material. I would vote for Bernie, but . . . my only choice might be Jill or Gary. Although, I have seriously considered simply not voting for any candidate. I just do not want to be responsible for putting someone into office that is . . . well . . . all prior comments do a great job of defining. I'll leave it at that ;)

My personal views of the democratic party:
Give everything away for free. Make up extra rules to close businesses so we become dependent on nations that don't follow those rules. Raise taxes on any successful company that wants to operate in the US. Open borders to people who need jobs. Close borders to people who create jobs, and America sucks and always has. Anyone who disagrees with us is Racist.
My personal views of the Republican Party: America was once the land of opportunity. We were the industrial leader. We were innovative manufacturers. The US was known for producing the highest quality of goods. Our culture was based on Americans taking pride in their work. We must get back to a common sense approach to cutting government spending and stop making deals that financially ruin us. Anyone who disagrees with us is a communist.

The appeal, I think, is she is running against someone who makes a gaff a minute. There's a conspiracy theory that Trump is in this election to insure Hillary wins. I know most conspiracy theories aren't true per snopes.com, but you have to wonder about this one considering all the unforced errors Trump has made.

That is a good question. Looking at her past record, her show over the years for her secret service people, the military and police and fireman, I can see any appeal at all. In front of the cameras she wants you to think she is the girl next door that has your back. But from everything I have read about her and Bill and what I have seen in my 40 years in the military this is anything but the truth. I would not trust her to have my 6. Here is a person that is out to benefit one person, Hillary R. Clinton. Her and her husband have showed distant for the military since day one.
