It's such a solemn place, and the Old Guard does a great job of making you feel that way when you visit -- with the Tomb Guards, the changing of the guard, the wreath laying ceremonies. I'm always touched when I visit there.

http://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Explore-the-Cemetery/Tomb-of-the-Unknown-Soldier CW5 Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 09 Nov 2014 21:20:34 -0500 2014-11-09T21:20:34-05:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 10 at 2014 12:20 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-memorials-and-battlefields-have-your-visited-stateside-and-abroad?n=319555&urlhash=319555

Too many to list but here's several I have been to.

Appomattox
Jamestown
Yorktown
George Washington Birthplace
Chancellorsville
Wilderness
Fredericksburg
Spotsylvania
Drury's Bluff
Manassas
WWI Memorial
USS Wisconsin (Norfolk, VA)
Kings Mountain
Fort Raleigh
Abraham Lincoln Birthplace
Cape Henry Memorial
Guilford Courthouse
Wright Brothers (amazing memorial)
Maggie L. The one that meant a lot to me was the Andersonville POW camp in Georgia. I had an ancestor that was a prisoner during the civil war and it was cool to know what he went through to survive. Its a great learning experience from history. Most was in French but a few were in broken English, thanking the US for its help during WWII. I kick myself for not getting a picture LTC Jeff Shearer Tue, 31 Oct 2017 19:10:55 -0400 2017-10-31T19:10:55-04:00 2014-11-09T21:13:24-05:00
