What memorials and battlefields have your visited stateside and abroad?

This may be a "common" answer, but it's a very special memorial: The Tomb of the Unknowns. It's such a solemn place, and the Old Guard does a great job of making you feel that way when you visit -- with the Tomb Guards, the changing of the guard, the wreath laying ceremonies. I'm always touched when I visit there.

i have been to a bunch in Richmond Va and petersburg va and around that area i say they are awesome and any you can find here u should go see have been to the historic site of president Lincoln in Springfield Ill

I have been to plenty of memorials/battlefields. The one that meant a lot to me was the Andersonville POW camp in Georgia. I had an ancestor that was a prisoner during the civil war and it was cool to know what he went through to survive. Its a great learning experience from history.

There are a lot that I have been to over the years, but my favorite is the Monument at San Jacinto, TX; where the "Napoleon of the West" met his Waterloo.

Brian I have visited more than I can remember but a few stick out and I will never forget.
Arlington Cemetery the sign as you enter says it all, "this is hallowed ground"

The other was not an official memorial, it was a church in France in the back of the church there was an area where people had written on the walls. Most was in French but a few were in broken English, thanking the US for its help during WWII. I kick myself for not getting a picture
