There are many times that I've taken our freedoms for granted in the past before I stepped into the combat zone during OIF, I haven't since. I attempt to cherrish all the moments that I can with my family and friends. I try to make the most out of every situation. Our country, old glory and the Armed Services stand for so much more. Our freedoms and our way of life come on the backs, blood and tears of the service men and women protecting those freedoms every day. I will never forget. We enjoy seeing all of the wonderful parks across the country, but we are Twins fans hands down. A couple of years ago we were able to attend opening day at Target Field, not only was it us but my parents and my brother and his family joined us for the 30 degree day. The opening ceremony and national anthem took me by surprise like it has never done before, that moment nested with America's pastime beginning new for another year is my moment of independence. One of my most guilty pleasures has always been road trips, and it's nothing for me to jump in the truck on a week-end and visit a city or a state or two... How I come to really treasure this was during my trips to the sand box and discovering what happens to Shia and Sunnis who are caught venturing "outside their assigned areas"... It's not pretty... Explaining to them about the freedom of travel in the US was something many of them couldn't fathom, and became something that grew to be more important to me on each return, and one I don't take for granted... And I feel that American pride rolling that Dodge Ram or my Harley across the country with a good tune, lots of wind and a sky blue day... Don't get no better than that...
