What MOS’s are assigned to National Guard Special Forces Groups?

I am considering joining the National Guard in the near future and have put a lot of research into the locations of the specific 19th and 20th Special Forces Group companies. As I understand, the two SFGs and 1st Battalion, 143th Infantry Regiment are the only airborne National Guard units. I have a strong interest in being airborne while serving in the Guard but am not interested in enlisting in the 18 series. I'd like to know what support MOSs (if any) are available in the 19th and 20th SFGs.

There are two airborne infantry battalions, one in Texas one in Rhode Island. There are detachments of the SFG’s all over the country, chances are you won’t be accepted into them. They are usually filled by departing active duty service members who are already Airborne qualified, and they are coded as interview only. The same thing for the airborne infantry battalions.
If you want to be Reserve Component and have a chance at Airborne school I suggest Rigger or Psyops in the USAR.

PSYOPS and CA in the USAR, but only certain units are airborne. I believe it is split 50-50, depending who they fall under. A few of the LRS companies that were disbanded were just reorganized this year under the 2-134th, so there are also airborne units in Indiana and Nebraska (not sure if any of the others followed suit).

CPT (Join to see) I know that 37F and 38B in USAR are not Airborne required but offer opportunities for Airborne. I didn’t know about the LRS companies being reorganized, that’s definitely new. But I would expect they’re only accepting already Airborne and preferably Ranger qualified 11Bs which it does not sound like this Recruit has the stomach for if SF is too much for him.

The CA and PO units that fall under USACAPOC are on jump status, I believe. Something we frequently ran into when I was with C TRP 2/152 LRS, was recruiters would place new enlistees directly into the unit. There was nothing in the system to stop them from being placed into open slots without an interview. So, they would go to basic, AIT, then airborne, then get to the unit and go to the A&S platoon, and they would never make it out of there if they didn't REALLY want to be in the unit. They would eventually find somewhere more comfortable to transfer.

Also most of the support staff are currently full across the U.S however most of the armories are running the SFRE almost every other month. I have been on medic details for these quite a few times. There is a big push to seek applicants for FY21 from both units on their social media pages. Also if you have Instagram you can follow either unit and message them for tips etc. on being competitive at the SFRE.
