What music or DVD/Movie helped you through your deployment?

While I was in Afghanistan, several DVD's helped me relax after stressful. Clerks II, the Firefly series, and Serenity all helped take my mind off of the mission. What music or movies helps you through your time overseas?

Christmas story. One of my favorite movies of all time. Helped me kindle Christmas spirit while deployed!

I was fortunate enough to deploy with Group and our server had a ton of movies and music.

Therefore, I had a variety to choose from. No Boredom. :)

Being surrounded by extremely attractive men AND having to take pictures of them distorted my view of what's important in a person. It's what's on the inside that counts...apparently lol.

I never brought a personal music device, we loaded one box that had a radio with extra D cell batteries, small tv with built in vcr a few movies, coffee pot and cans of coffee,couple electrical cords and international plugs. This was for everyone marked Mission Essential.

On my current deployment I am slowly going through the entire seasons of Southpark. The dry and sick humor at least takes away from the boredom and hurry up and wait. If I am not watching SP, I listen to music that is not mainstream. I feel overall it has often more meaningful lyrics and positive messages.

What a great question. I don't go to war without the Boondock Saints. I had way too many war movies during the first deployment. Live and learn. It was lots more comedy after that.

When the 5SFGA folks down the road were shutting down, they had a fire sale on open-reel tapes of all descriptions at their amazing PX. On a whim, I picked up the D'Oyly Carte performance of The Pirates Of Penzance, a Laura Nyro album and Blind Faith. Still listen to those today, digitally, the tapes being long since unusable.
