What online colleges give the most military credits for military service? What ALMS courses appear in JST transcripts as college credits?

Hello I am an MP in the army reserves currently obtaining tuition assistance I was wondering what is a good online nonprofit college that they give credits for military service I prefer it to be non proctor for exams but that does not really matter. I want to major in business or maybe information systems, anything that is useful. I currently hold 9 SH in my JST transcripts. I have also heard that there are courses in ALMS they count towards college credit anybody has experience with that thank you

Avoid for profit schools and consider public universities online (e.g. Arizona State, Penn State, etc.). Although you are considering college for enlisted promotion points now, you want to have transferable credits after eventual ETS or retirement.

Based on your JST report, talk with your education counselor about which credits transfer over. Most likely it will transfer to a basic degree, such as an Associates Degree in General Education. Most of the military training you do & schools will take up most of the elective credits, meaning you would have to do a certain amount classes such as core (math, English, etc) to complete the degree.

It’s a win win situation, you train and do what you need to do in the military and it compensates to civilian education in addition to 2 promotion points per credit hour (which is usually 3). Just keep in mind of the degree and where you would like to head in your studies later in life. I hope this helps.

Excelsior can convert those credits and also Berkeley college. They can send you a transcript, and you can submit to your school for full credits. It’s applying for a BA degree. When I went back to school, they accepted about 40 and some change credits towards my BA. SSD 1, MOS Q credits, language gave credits, etc. several other ones as well. Pretty much whatever is not in your JST, I suggest talking to your SI to properly documental the training and courses you have completed every credit counts. Examples of Credits I got are in the picture attached. You can also do FEMA online courses and Cleo exams to complete elective that will help you speed up your degree completion. Overall I got my associates just on the credits from the army.

It has already been said, but avoid for profit schools. If you are looking to do strictly online, look into some of your local Universities, a lot of them have online or "remote" options. With Covid, a lot of schools have had to adapt to using a remote format. The school that I am going to doesn't proctor exams, but they use a browser that is locked down, that way they know if you are cheating on tests. It isn't intrusive, and can be done from home.

Full transparency, I work for Purdue University Global, however I honestly believe that we provide unique options for military servicemembers. Some of the other comments are correct, even though your JST suggests college credit, there are many universities who can't fit them into a degree program. And there are some universities who say they're military friendly, but then just place you into their basic degree programs.

We offer an associate's degree that was specifically designed to accept your military training and most soldiers can complete their degree in about 6 courses -- which can also bridge into a bachelor's degree. However I would suggest you do look at a variety of options, talk to your education counselor and even CO, and have multiple colleges and universities evaluate your JST to see how they all compare.
