If you want to look for civilian positions locally to where you are PCSing to, LinkedIn has that ability. Or simply do a Google search for your area. There are many employment search engines that will pop up. So employment goes one of two ways; a Fed position that you'll get spousal preference for or commercial market. So it's USA Jobs for the first and Google for the second to start. The problem is if you're in demand, there'll be several hospitals, labs, etc. that are hiring and you don't want to work for an Alpha Hotel outfit. That's where you'll have to start pounding it out looking for current and recent employees to have a good chat with over lunch. Recruiting firms are great for having a big list of opportunities but seldom do anything to ascertain the "is it a good place to work" level. My wife is a Respiratory Therapist with some high end credentials. She was pretty good about checking out the marketplace before jumping in. BTW her one and only experience as a Fed was bad. She never looked back and never again considered working at a MIL or VA hospital.

Now she's tilting towards retiring as the PC inmates are running the medical asylum. Besides the electronic records cluster, care and the pay that would come with it is based more on how you feel the color of paint on the wall is vs. did you get the right treatment. So providers are being encouraged to make you happy at the expense of getting what is medically best. And to top that off, you better get the one of 68,000 ICD-10 codes right or nobody gets paid. They must have hired the circus idiots to come up with stuff like V91-07 Burned due to Water Skis on Fire. We know a number of medical physicians, administrators, nurses, lab folk, etc. that are retiring early or starting a new line of work due to this stuff. I guess it's good business for the recruiting industry with all that turnover. My wife punched out because she saw her ability to take care of her patients being so diminished by the stupid administrative stuff, there wasn't any fun in continuing. That's the consistent word we get from all those other former health care workers too. Martuscello, Speak with the Command Ombudsman. They maintain the up to date sites for this situation. I remember a "Military One Call" site but it has been 8 years now and there may be new and better sites. Command Master Chief/Sgt. Maj. should have a point of contact for your question.
