MOPP gear.
When you need it, you really need it. But when we need it, you know we won't have it.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - I think I used my sword belt once/year --usually for the MC Ball or a change of command. Beyond that, I have a barracks cover (7 3/8"), free shipping, never used. Maybe an honorable mention to the Dress Whites --worn once at TBS.

There's several items I can think of.

1. The leather glove shells with their crappy inserts.

2. The thin sleeping bag. It's supposedly good to 30 degrees. I was borderline miserable in 45 degree weather.

3. The IOTV. What good is body armor to Infantryman when he can't shoulder his rifle?

This is going back a ways, shelter half with pegs and poles, the tin mess kit, wool over garments aka "The Bear Suit", and the big rubber "Mickey Mouse" boots.
