What qualities do you look for in an elected official?

Ahhhh yes, soon elections will be here and we will all be bombarded with political ads none stop. With this being said I figured I would ask the above question.

First and foremost, I like to see military service in our elected officials. Additionally, someone that is articulate, educated, demonstrated family values as well as similar thoughts on stands/issues at hand.

Character first and foremost, secondly, a true understanding of service. Whether they served or not, comprehension and empathy is paramount.

Character, servant-leadership, solutions (as opposed to blaming). Experience (but not too much... I believe in voter imposed term limits.

I want an official that will make the tough decision no one likes because it is in the best interest of our nation and not his reelection. That above everything.

Then I want someone that is open to new information and listening to "the other side." If you present him with new information he should be able to look at facts to determine the right course of action regardless of his feelings or anyone else's.

And by god i do not want him catering to the needs of a corporation or political party/group and just do his job in improving our nation as a whole.

Elected official: the accomplishments as the official

Candidates: campaign focus on mud slinging or solutions to real issues

I would ask them one question and go off that. Are they trying to be a politician in North Carolina...sorry I read the question earlier about it being legal for politicians to solicite prostitutes... Thought that was funny
