Ahhhh the good old days of the Civil Defense trainings in middle school. We watched old movies about nuclear threats and received booklets with instructions on building Ozzie abd Harriet style fallout shelters. For about six months as a 7th grader I didn't sleep much, worried about the coming nuclear war. And then the made for TV movie "The Day After" seriously creeped me out. But I still occasionally see a Fallout Shelter sign here and there. So, what is a good use for former Fallout Shelters? Because in case of a serious nuclear attack, fallout won't be my main concern. Why did my skull just melt off my shoulders will be what bugs me a bit more.

I would love to have one for secure storage and emergencies. The underground ones are perfect for storm shelters and the basics one would need to get through an emergency.

Of course, to spend any time in one, you would want to maker sure it is properly ventilated. A generator would be good too.

You might even be able to go full-fledged prepper if it is big enough....
