I'll jump on the Disney bandwagon. Great military discounts across the board. I am also a member of the Disney Vacation Club and the effect of getting double discounts really helps in the long run. If you make a pilgrimage to Disney at least every other year it's totally worth it!

We had a wonderful time "camping" at Garmisch. We had a fully furnished cabin, so were not roughing it. I haven't stayed at the lodge, but friends have and they loved that, too. We went in August, when it was unbearably hot in Turkey, and it was cool and green in Germany. I would love to do it again. I'll be daydreaming about it when the temp in AZ is over 100.

Try Barbers Point Hawaii. You can rent a beach front duplex for around $90.00 per night. Lots of privacy. It is through the Navy MWR.
