Jay Ruiz 3079262 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am curious if anyone is going through the same issue as me.I am currently “on hold” to join army reserves, cause apparently there is some new rules in the army.I am “GC” holder, and applying for my citizenship in summer 2018.recruiter told me from now on,no one with GC can join army reserves and national guard, which doesn’t make any sense.I don’t know if this rule would be changed or what? Thanks. What’s going on with green card and the Army Reserves? 2017-11-10T02:24:03-05:00 Jay Ruiz 3079262 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am curious if anyone is going through the same issue as me.I am currently “on hold” to join army reserves, cause apparently there is some new rules in the army.I am “GC” holder, and applying for my citizenship in summer 2018.recruiter told me from now on,no one with GC can join army reserves and national guard, which doesn’t make any sense.I don’t know if this rule would be changed or what? Don&#39;t let the halt in paperwork stop you, keep pushing. I got denied once, came back and tried again. The military will put walls in your path, it&#39;s your job to breach them. The Trump administration has yet to look into the issue. Starting in May of 2017 several lawsuits have been filed against the pentagon regarding the issue of citizenship, with the recruits “holding their end of the bargain” vis a vis, enlisting, serving, but not yet receiving their green card. Though there isn’t much in the way of information on this issue, I would look into one of these lawsuits and consider your options on status, reserve or active status that is. If you are not locked into reserve status, consider talking to you chain of command in regards to switching over. Another option is to contact your naturalization representative on post in your area to assist you in the process. Other options include improving your marketability, do you speak a desirable foreign language? Regarding the security screening process, have you met all the requirements necessary? These are a couple questions to pursue. This is an unfortunate wall many have hit since 2016, but a lawsuit draws attention to the issue, which is good news, but should not sway you from pressing forward before more is done. The military is a competition, where desire, conviction and dedication win every time.
