Visited my sister and her husband last December, was in vilseck for 14 days. Constantly heard MG fire. Like legit constantly. Unless POG’s get down like that in Germany? You get both U.S. and German holidays, at least a 3 day weekend a month, maybe more. You&#39;ll also spend about 4 months a year in the field. If you&#39;re married, service members sell used cars at the Graf PX, get one there rather than the dealers right off post (major ripoff), and get out and do stuff. The outdoors MWR has tours reasonably priced, highly recommend taking advantage of them, but also recommend just exploring the backroads. If you aren&#39;t married, save the expense of a car, and take advantage of the excellent public transportation system in Germany. A beautiful days pass allows you and three buddies to travel anywhere in Bavaria for one low price. If you intend to go out of country, make sure you have a passport. Even though Europe is open, with everything that&#39;s going on it&#39;s better to travel on a passport than on your military ID (SOF agreement doesn&#39;t work so well outside of Germany). If you are station there, it&#39;s like National Training Center, Ft. Irwin, CA. 2 weeks battle sim OPFOR, 1 week of prep and BLUFOR training and 1 week recovery, and a 4-day weekend. That&#39;s how it was for me. I&#39;m retired, though. :P Oh! And YES if you are on leave, you can go any where in the world. Just make sure to have your passport with you and get vaccine, and a condom at a ready. ;) Response by SSG Watis Ekthuvapranee made Jul 30 at 2020 11:22 AM 2020-07-30T11:22:51-04:00 2020-07-30T11:22:51-04:00 SSG George Holtje 6163202 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When I was there we had a unique field situation because there was no rail load except for the TC rotation. Four days in the field and back for the weekend. Nuremberg is right down the train tracks. We spent alot of time in the field, for gunnery support in Graf up to FTXs at Wildflicken and Hohenfels. But those units, as well as ours, had ample rear time to go see the sights and partake of German culture. I myself was a barracks rat for the most part but still went and saw many sights, such as Frankfurt, Munich, and Hitler&#39;s compound now known as The Eagle&#39;s Nest. So yes you will have time to soak up some recreation overseas...my suggestion is do not do as I did but do as I say and take advantage of the opportunity of seeing some beautiful sights and countryside.
