I would’ve stayed 11B, although the job sets you up for success in the outside world

It’s a lot of work as you deal with airframe, powertrain, and propulsion among others. I’m the other side of the Apache world (15Y) and we handle the electrical, navigation, comms, weapons, and survivablilty. We are better, and are ok with letting y’all (the winded drinking window lickers) how it is. But on a serious note, it’s a tough but rewarding job. You will bust your Ass.

Yeah..same I was in a sniper section for 2 and a half years... Things were great..but there is nothing that translates to the civilian world...so figured I’d go 15R maybe go for for Boeing up by Seattle later on.

I’ve been a R for 10 years. It’s a maintenance heavy aircraft. Basically a flying computer with weapons and sensors all over it, so it can be finicky. All I can say is work hard and give a damn about it. Dig into the IETM, read some theory of ops. Be familiar with ATP 3-04.7, DA Pam 738-751, and the 204 series. That will give you a solid knowledge base.
