I'm not sure if they have changed it since but I know when I got out of Active Duty in the Corps in 2005 you were allowed full sleeve tattoos ect as long as nothing on the hand or neck/head.

Myself and a lot of other Marines who tried going back Active Duty from the IRR around 2007 were denied because of this Tattoo policy of having 3 or more tattoos you weren't allowed back in unless they were documented in your medical files and you would be grandfathered in. But of course most of us our Final medical out the Navy was not documenting that stuff back in 2005.

Hopefully they have changed it back or plan on changing it because I knew so many marines that had half sleeves to full sleeves on there arms who were great marines the Tattoo didn't change them. Having it been part of the reasons for me not re-enlisting for a third time. There is no reason a Sgt with higher qualifications such as there advanced course and a Bachelors Degree in there respective field. Plus having completed all three types of Marine deployments and earned cross service commendations, should have to wait for screening behind another Marine simply because he has been in longer 2 or 3 years longer. The higher qualified should be looked at for promotion first. We all get the same chances the difference is who exploits them and does not stick to the bare minimum. The Marines I served with made their ancient bare-aluminum 16s and PASGTs work, but they deserved better for the missions they had. I'd also suggest the Marines not eat so many crayons.
