The word is "YES"
Almost never say no, listen, consider, and provide a yes, or a way (and cost) to get to yes. (does not apply to illegal or immoral tasks)
Even when what i wanted to say was NO, thats dumb, not worth the cost in time or risk.
A No would be taken poorly most times, but a "YES", and this is what it will cost, was heard, considered, and then "decided" it should be a no by the tasker..WIN/WIN

Mission
My experience is CIV folk tend to be in their own compartment. We MILs have a grip on the overall mission, hence look further than our own desk, fork lift, whatever. We know there's a corporate world and are interested in making the company move forward because we win when the company wins. We find it much more interesting and worthwhile to help all the gears move.

Two of my MOS's (39Y and 27M) gave me the technical skills required to have a 22+ (and counting) career as a Flight Simulator Technician. I must mention that the leadership training got me a management position in flight simulation maintenance after being a technician for 5-1/2 years.
