There are many. Getting paid to dive, parachute, shoot are all super cool. I wasn't cut out to be a Piolet but what red blooded male wouldn't love to fly a jet. Basically a sky motorcycle that goes thousands of miles an hour :)

I think the coolest job in the military is being in a position to help soldiers, to change their lives in a positive manner, to counsel, direct to help them see they can be better people. It's a job you can do no matter what your MOS is.

Hospital Corpsman, because you get to care for people, your stationed aboard ships, small boats, submarines, clinics, hospitals, isolated duty, independent duty, aviation, special ops, Marines (my favorite) infantry or rifle company, light armor, heavy armor, and the sister services. I had so many during my time in the Marine Corps, from Platoon Sergeant with 1st F.A.G., 1st MarDiv, FMF then with the spooks in Hawaii, on board ships with my fellow shipmates on the U.S.S. Blue Ridge, Iwo, the old Enterprise, just name a few. But, I can tell you that going through all of the Marine Corps rank structure from Private to Gunnery Sergeant, then on to WO1 to Chief Warrant Officer 3, Data Comm Maintenance Officer/Electronics Maintenance Officer and working with other officers in the other branches of service. Now that was my coolest job ever. I thank everyone who had some great stories to share and who served their Branch of Service Proudly.

SEAL but not everyone is cutout to one of those guys. I liked being a PN because I could help guide a Sailor's career and offer advice/recommendations. A big plus is that I knew the personal side of the crew instead of on just a professional basis. I knew the good, the bad and the ugly.

I had the coolest job ever. I can't speak for Medics, but as a Corpsman, I was able to do things that none of my civilian counterparts would ever dream of. The same was true of my time in hospitals, and with the Marines!

My job was one that not many people can say they have seen much less experience. I worked the Flight Deck of the mighty Aircraft Carriers. One of the world's most dangerous jobs. What a rush and satisfaction to see the aircraft being launched of the flight deck and landing safely after their mission is completed. To know that you made that happen is an awesome feeling. I was also qualified as a Conning Officer and Junior Officer of the Watch. These watches are usually stood by Naval Officers. We had the only All Enlisted Bridge Teams in the Navy, for Aircraft Carriers. Awesome time!

Why EOD of course! What a silly question!! You get to do the most bestest (yes I know it isn't a word!) thing in the world, BLOW SHIT UP! The next day you are doing a VIPP trip for the Secret Service or State Dept in support of any number of heads of state or POTUS. The next day you can be training to safe a nuke. The next day you can assist the BATFE or local /state/federal law enforcement in disposition of a VBIED or subsequent post blast. The next day you can cash your $20,000 re-enlistment bonus. The next day can do a 33 day White House protective TDY/TAD. The next 6-8 months you can deploy support and support a sister service military unit doing route clearance, post-blast, UXO and enemy cache or IED render safe and/or disposal. Or you can be briefing a 4 Star on your mission and why EOD kicks ass. Like they don't already know. Then you can pick which EOD Groupie you want to entertain for the day. The list of "Cool" stuff goes on and on. See your local In-Service recruiter!! LOL :-)

Being a First Sergeant has to be the coolest yet most challenging job in the military! From childhood to becoming an adult, I have always enjoyed helping others. Although I had three different career fields, I found that becoming a first sergeant was my passion, primarily because I soon realized that job was all about people. Helping people develop road maps to what they identified as success: whether achieving the next rank, building professional relationships, finishing school, changing thier attitude or even helping them through difficulties. As a first sergeant, my job was very fulfilling because I got to see first hand how "Shirts" lead people while helping them grow and accomplish their dreams! It was never about position, just people.

U.S. Army Military Police, hands down.

1. Real world mission 24/7 at home, but most importantly we provide many essential capabilities to the maneuver commander. Smart Soldiers, great leaders, and exceptional NCOS. PLUS, More firepower in a combat support MP Company then a Light Infantry Battalion, More communications than signal company, and we don't have to walk.... and carry lots of ammo, food, and water.

2. So valuable, we are, the Army doubled the size of the MP Regiment after 911 (for war), and trained many others non-MP units to fill the remaining OPTEMPO shortfalls. You will rarely find a mission MPs are not a part of. Many times our Maneuver Commanders always want more.

Just being in.

I got to do so much cool stuff from riding in and under helicopters to playing with demo. I was promoted to Cpl in Hawaii, and drunk as a skunk in Australia. Coldest I have ever been was cleaning vehicles to leave the Middle east, but I remember being up 'til 4am doing it with all my buddies.

Add in the people, and I don't know how it could have gotten any better (or worse).

Best job I ever saw was in Panama and an E-5 in shorts, t-shirt and boonie hat drove a little boat around the guys going through Jungle Warfare class while they were doing their poncho raft swim test around the lagoon. I know when I was swimming across I wondered to myself "How the hell do I get that job?"

I always thought that 88K (Army Watercraft Operator) sounded cool, although the career progression looked worse than Chaplain Assistant.

That being said, I think Command Sergeant Major is the coolest job. Enough rank to make a true difference and still an enlisted Soldier that can get in the trenches with the troops (few do). The CSM's responsibilities include: senior enlisted advisor to the commander, ensure training is conducted to standard, AND most importantly...welfare of enlisted Soldiers. Not all embrace this triad, but those that do are remembered well beyond their years in a unit.

This is all debatable, but I have a great job. I am an Operation Specialist on a Ballistic Missile Defense Destroyer. I get involved with just about every scenario my ship comes in contact with. I love it!

as far as the Marines... I'd have to say Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team. I came into the Corps with that Secondary MOS and it was the best unit I have been in. really because they build an entire platoon out of new joins (except for a few holdovers to make up leaders and teachers). This makes for a very close group because there is no "old Corps" marines to put you down and you all learn the same things at the same time. the training was amazing (everything from Basic Security Guard School to Advanced Urban Combat School and Non-lethal Combat) it was the best mix of infantry skills and high speed - low drag skills to make it really fun and interesting.

I would say being a Long Range Surveillance Scout. It is a very unique unit in the Army. There are only three companies in the whole army. It was the only place were I got to get some training in. I don't know where else could you be assigned to a water team and train on amphibious recon.

The Northern Warfare Training Center (NWTC) is a United States Army Alaska installation located in Black Rapids, Alaska. It is the Active Army's only Cold Region Training Proponent.

Tanker pilot, no question. Everyone looks up to you (well, at least during refueling), no one can manage without you (at least over the middle of the Pacific), and you may pass gas whenever the mood strikes.

depends what you like, I think 25B (Information Systems Analyst) is pretty cool but now im a 25D (cyber defense) which is even cooler, soon i should be a 17C (Cyber Operations Specialist) which will be freaking awesome.

Obviously, Armor Crewman on the M1A2. Special Forces are all well and good, but what beats riding into battle at 45 mph on 72 tons of hate and discontent, armed with three machine guns (two of which are absurdly accurate) and a 120mm cannon capable of reaching out and touching the enemy two miles away?

Drill Sergeant/instructor. Absolutely - hands down the best job. That DS/DI is forging tomorrow's Army/USMC and has the world's toughest job doing so. One mark of the DS/DI is this: how many of us forget where we went to elementary school? How many have forgotten the name of their DS/DI? Case closed

Definitely Course Manager for Force Protection at ATGMIDPAC. But I always loved being a Boatswains Mate and making Ship's Bosun was a dream come true. Of course I would be wrong not to mention my CPO INITIATIONS and yes we still had one then!!

Infantry is where it's at, however for "high speed" jobs, I'd have to say Rangers or MSOB.

Depends, really. I loved my time as a cannon crewmember and would go back to it in a heart beat if it hadn't messed up both my shoulders. I'm looking at re-enlisting in the Army Reserves and re-classing to 91F Small Arms Repair which is more in line with my career as a gunsmith in the firearms industry.

Granted, many may not find those jobs to be the coolest, but in reality, it's all about what makes you happy to do.

Pilot. To the uninitiated being a pilot still holds some of the daredevil, romantic mystique of the early 20th Century. Beside that you get to fly airplanes and get paid to do it.
