This is a hard question.... I would have to say that I saw a guy standing out front of the barracks with a sheet tode to his angles and rists during a typhoon. He fought a hell of a fight until eventually he flew away. They said a Japanese sailor found his body out in the Ocean. Unknown if it was him but never seen him aftwards so who knows.

A "Stairwell Watch". Great Lakes, Snipes Castle. It had 4 3-story wings. Females had one wing, 1/2 of 3rd floor. Each landing was open to male barracks. So every time we walked down the stairs, starting on the 3rd floor, the Stairwell Watch had to yell "Female on Deck!" as we turned on each landing and continued down (or up). After a while, it got kind of old. Finally I told the Watch that if I see something I'd never seen before, I would shoot it. They still had to announce but, at least they quit yelling in our ears!

A friend stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX, for Intel school had a Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) check late one night. The AF Security Force personnel brought in a canine to sniff for drugs. The dog keyed onto something in her wall locker. While the rest of the room was inspectable, the wall locker wasn't, and it was easy just to throw stuff in there. So, the dog takes off into her pile of laundry and unmentionables looking for contraband. The SF troop thought he had hit the mother lode and started cheering him on and motivating the Belgian Malinois to pull up whatever he had sniffed.

He resurfaced with a half-eaten Twinkie.

Lets see. I remember when I was with the 101st Airborne Division and a Chapter Case from the third floor used tied together knotted bedsheets to climb down to the ground floor to get around the Charge of Quarters and evade Barracks Restriction. I still remember looking out the window and seeing the white sheets swaying too and fray and thinking......."This is just like the movie Animal House". Eventually the 1SG got smarter and made a once in a while walk around the outside of the barracks part of CQ duty by the CQ mainly to look for escapees. Another favorite was hearing the 2 a.m. click clack of female hi-heels on my second floor barracks hallway. Too tired to open the door and look, heard the door next door open. Girl and Male giggling a few squeaks of the bed and a loud CRASH as the government issue bed could not take the weight of two people or the stress of too and fro and it collapsed into pieces. Didn't stop them from finishing though but after the CRASH I was laughing too hard and it took me a while to get back to sleep. One more event, 1SG Barracks inspection at the 101st, he is in another Chapter Case room and notices the false cieling is sagging slighly. Pokes up a tile, then two then three, out comes a full camoflage net, two field telephones, one medium sized tent, and two radio sets. Turns out the guy was on a detail two days before to clean out the deployment CONNEX's. NCO in charge of the detail said nothing was missing when he left but he stupidly gave the key to the Chapter Case to go back and get something he forgot UNSUPERVISED. His plan was to fence the stuff in his false cieling. The NCO in charge of him while on detail lost a stripe and was on extra duty for like 6 weeks, CQ mostly.....some sleep deprivation as well. MP's hauled away the Chapter Case, not sure what happened to him.........just disappeared, never to be seen or mentioned again.

See and that was one of the fun parts of being Infantry you guys that picked other MOS' missed.

My first duty station, Fort Hunter Liggett circa 1981. We had open bay barracks and the first fall I was there it literally rained marijuana from the heating vents when the DPW turned the heat on, and I'm not talking a fleck here or there I mean rained like fricken snow, the crap was on everything. Seems one of the nefarious SP4's due to chapter out had a huge stash hidden in the vent at the end of the bay near the blower. Yep you guessed it; we had to haul every stick of furniture out of the barracks, open and shake all our gear out, conduct a heavily supervised GI party and generally get screwed with endlessly for his brilliant maneuver.

While in AIT at Fort Leonard Wood we had a "nut job" that should never of been allowed in the Army. He was just a waste of time and effort. We lived in the old WWII type open bay barracks at this time in 1978. During a barracks inspection he was all messed as usual! We could here our Drill Instructor yelling at him upstairs and then we heard something bouncing down the stairs. I really believed our DI had thrown him down the stairs, but our "nut job" had jumped head first trying the hurt/kill himself. The DI walked over and told him to get back upstairs. "Nut job" got up slowly and headed back upstairs. The DI yelling started again and all of us on the lower floor were wondering what was going on up there and having a good laugh. Again we hear him bouncing down the stairs as he tried to hurt himself again. We were all kind shocked, but trying not to laugh either because of the situation. Again he was told to get back upstairs. He was slower getting up, but he soon headed upstairs again. Next thing we know we see him flying off the upstairs balcony. By this time we were hysterical because he kept doing something to hurt himself. Our DI got tired of the game by then and asked someone to go call for an ambulance and he was hauled off to get a medical evaluation. He showed up later that day from the hospital. Last time I seen the "nut job' he had stabbed himself a bunch of times in the arm to make himself bleed to death at lunch. He was thrown down by several people and held there while first aid was done until the ambulance arrived. He was gone after that and we never saw him again. Funny thing, after 2 trips down the stairs and one off the balcony, he didn't break a bone or anything. That had to be the craziest thing I had ever seen. Go figure!!!

Not funny but it was the reason I pushed to get off base housing. 1967 - Fort Lewis. Open bay barracks, bunk beds and we are all permanent party HH Company. We all have office jobs and work together. Across from my bunk were 4 different race EMs in 2 bunk beds. Everybody mostly, got along fine. We had roll down window shades. When the guys across the barracks rolled down their shades there was a picture of a jolly, fat bald guy and the words "White Cracker" underneath. Top said there was nothing he could do about it and we would be on a transport to RVN if we retaliated. Still pisses me off to this day.

Young Drill SGT's who decided to do the ultimate room toss. The Privates came back with everything completely disassembled and in piles. Blankets, sheets, mattresses, bed rails, springs, laundry bags, laundry, boots, laces, shoes, laces, etc. Many things unlabeled. It took a week for them to fix everything and many never got the right stuff back.

hm. well during basic one of the males decided to try,and make a hammock or something like it, in the barracks between two bunks. he was using bungee cords. One of the cords came lose and snapped back across the bunk with him in between. It left a deep gash in his eyebrow that he had to get sewn up. It's either that, or the time twi females were up past curfew and they thought they heard a drill Sgt coming. they switched off there lights and ran full speed into each other. One fell into the bunk, and the other into the kill zone. both had gashes in there heads and another female freaked out and yelled for a drill sgt.

Too many to choose from but one incident was in Korea we had just come out of the Field after three weeks and there was a 100% eyes on accountability of all weapons before we could be released for the weekend. My roommate's M16 was missing from the armory so they searched our room and then broke the lock on his locker. Inside his closet was the M16 and three 5Lb blocks of partially moldy pre-sliced american cheese.

My roommate was a fellow cook who had not found the time to get his stolen cheese off base to ajoomma. Needless to say his blackmarket warriors pass and that of our corporal and specialiast were revoked when they came back to the barrack; along with their rank.

Had a SP4 that had a subscription to Hustler magazine. When he renewed his subscription, the issue had a vinyl record attached. He put it on the record player and listened to a girl talking like she was being talked into screwing. He made up a whole dialogue that made it sound like he was the one talking her into it. SP4 goes on flagpole leave. During that week, the CO holds a barrack inspection. SP4 puts on the record and acts out his "discussion". Captain tries to open door, but finds it locked. He loses his shit, calls Top to open door. When he finds out it's a record, he proceeds to chew the Sp4's butt. Sp4 tells him "I can do what I want to. I'm on leave." and shows him paperwork. Cap realizes there's nothing he can do, so he stomps out cussing.

There was a lot, but here are two of the funniest ones: I was on Charge of Quarters in Ansbach Germany making my rounds when I came across our medic's barracks room door wide open and what sounded like a porn on full blast. There were several guys standing around in the hallway listening in and walking by to look in. I went to the door and announced myself, went in, and there was Doc in full congress with a German Porn actress. They were watching and re-enacting one of her movies. All I could do was say, good job doc and closed the door on my way out.

About a year later I was S.O.G. on Friday night at out Near I.R.P. when one of the NCOs came up to the main gate around 10 P.M. with one of his female PFCs. They were supposedly going up to the Ready Building to get the Privates LBE and Kevlar. about 30 Minutes later the same medic from my first story came back in from roaming patrol and said he had something to show me. He took me up to the ready building and I saw the light in the Commanders office was on. Went up to the window and saw the NCO and his PFC banging away on the Captains bunk. We went back to the guard shack and about 30 minutes later they came back to the guard shack to be let out. The PFC had a Protective mask in her hand. (At least she tried to make it look official).

Weirdest thing I saw was in A School I was on watch from 0000 to 0400 on a Friday night of a holiday weekend. It was about 0300 when my partner and I turned the corner one one of the male decks to see an obviously drunk sailor running down the hall of the barracks with nothing on except a horse head. Some things you just can't unsee.

04:00 AM I was CQ runner, mopping the mail room floor in Germany. AN old tyme NCO came it drunk, threw his guts up on the fresh mopped and waxed floor. I just rolled a mop and bucket over to him and told him to mop that shit up when he was sober as I was not his mother. A few hours later waiting for the 1St Sgt. we were BSing around. THe new guys walks up and calls the company to attention. Yes you guess it the drunk old NCO was out new 1st. He told the company I had brass telling him to clean his shit up. We became good friends later.

Germany 1988, walked into the room across the hall to hear this banging from inside a wall locker. I asked what that was, the occupant told me it was another Soldier who got so drunk, belligerent and in search of a fight the night before he was duct tapped and put in the wall locker for his own protection. In 1971 I lived in the missile maintenance barracks at Minot AFB, ND. There were either three or four guys to a room depending on rank. There was one common latrine/shower area on either end of each floor of the three story building. It was not unusual to see a guy come strolling out of the shower and walking down the hall toward his room buck naked trying to dry off. I don’t know what possessed them to do it, but, the fine ladies of the Officer’s Wives Club* decided they’d like to put up Christmas decorations in each of the day rooms to try and cheer up the poor single airmen that had to work during the holidays.

You guessed it. I came walking out of the shower early one afternoon and down the hall when I came face-to-face with four or five rather surprised women and their garland, tinsel and ornaments. I don’t know who was more shocked, me or them, but I beat feet out of there as fast as I could.

*I don’t know why the OWC came to the enlisted barracks. Maybe the NCOWC went to the BOQ? Perhaps some questions are better left unanswered.

Stationed in camp casey Friday night in July 2001 we had a private that had soju for the first time and thought he was superman jumped out of the 3rd floor barracks window with a blanket tied around his neck like a cape. Got a call from the MPs when I was a company commander. A female PFC in my company was kind of "red neck". She was on a outside stair well with a compound bow shooting a deer target in the court yard, using the stair well as a makeshift deer stand. Getting ready for bow season.
In her defense, a compound bow was not on the list of prohibited items in the barracks. That immediately changed.

In tech training I was a bay chief for our section of the dorms and we had one of our door guards playing on his phone in our hallway on the third floor. I noticed it when I went to check accountability on all my guys and told him he best put that shit up. Apparently he'd taken a phone call about 5 minutes previously right next to the window and an MTL saw him with his phone. The MTL walked up to our floor took his shoes off and stuck up behind him and said "Hey." The poor idiot jumped and turned around right as the MTL shot him in the face with a nerf gun and screamed in his face "You're dead Airman, Hit the floor dead Airman." Guy did as he was told and the MTL called me over and said "Bay Chief, did you just see a ghost?" I replied that I did and the MTL asked me to go get a sheet for him. From that point on the guy had doorguard every Friday night and had to wear a sheet with holes cut out for eyes when on door guard duty. He also appropriately got nick'd as Casper the poor Airman.

In AIT in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, we of course had some hotel parties. At one of these parties a buddy of mine was screwing around with a chick in our platoon, well a Marine was shit faced drunk and he smacked this chicks ass. Well my buddy wasn't happy about it, he chased him out of the room and once they got in the hall way, he backed the Marine into a corner and just layed him out with one punch. So the cops were called, however they couldn't tell who hit the guy on the security camera because of all the people that rushed to the hallway to watch the action. So the cops stand the marine in the hallway and then have each one of the other males there to come out to the hallway one at a time and have the marine identify who hit him. Well I'm only 19 at the time and I'm hammered, I think a couple other guys were underage as well. But you could definitely tell I wasnt 21. Anyway long story short, the marine never snitched and that was that, the cops left, we continued to party and the Marines took off.

The MAA's brought in two of the sorriest seamen I have ever encountered up to that point and presented them for their physicals. A guy got seperated because he failed a health and wellness inspection. He believed he was a wearwolf and never baithed or washed his cloaths. One night he had watch and it was a full moon. He freaked out and called the OOD telling him he cant stand watch. When people went to his room, they say his room smelled like rotten shit. His roomate reported that the guys been howeling and shit like a wolf as well. Long story short they had him open the locker the next day to brown moldy PT gear, unwashed and moldy cups and plates, and a dead bird. They say it looked like it had a bite taken out of it.

I was on duty for my BN on a friday, needless to say nothing good ever happens on friday night duty. So i am about to write in the log book, when all of a sudden I hear a noise. So i get up to go look, and the loudest bang went off down the corridor. Now my barracks were a open building style so the quad was visible from all angles. A test grenade was flung from one room to another. I went down to investigate. Nope never happened because as soon as I left my duty room a war started. The biggest god damn nerf war you ever seen. However most of the ammunition was on fire. See they setup the projectile weapons like the move Aliens with Ripley mounting the flame thrower onto the pulse rifle. They mounted small butane lighters onto the end of their weapons and soaked all the darts in 120 proof vodka. It was a firefight for the ages. I was so pissed that I didnt have my phone on me. It was freaking glorious. Three people were lit on fire and they ran away like a damn stunt gone wrong. But they put most of them out with a bucket of water that someone said might be a good idea. Thank god someone did an ORM before this.

1. One weekend, I decided to go to my buddy's room to see what he was up to. Bang on his door and when I walked in, there were two of our FO's standing there, both drunk, both wearing nothing but matching speedos, one holding a guitar, the other holding a saxophone. I immediately turned around and walked back out.

2. I think it was 2011, a tornado tore through Fayetteville. It didn't really touch Bragg at all, but it knocked out power on post. Needless to say, we spent the next couple days drinking liquor and piss warm beer in the barracks, in the dark, but that's besides the point. One of our cherries (who didn't have a car) asks me to give him a ride to his girlfriend's place and I oblige. When I came back to the barracks, guys were outside in the courtyard launching water balloons full of chem-light juice at each other with one of those big sling shots. "Eh, whatever, at least they're having fun," I think to myself. Get up to the 4th floor of the barracks (where my room was) and the walls and floor are glowing. Because they were splattered with chem light juice. Luckily, it dried clear(ish), but we were never able to entirely clean it off.

3. Walking back to the barracks from the chow hall when I find what looked like a turtle that had been run over by a truck, but the turtle was on the sidewalk, nowhere near the parking lot or any road. Turns out some shitbag I had never met had just gotten released from the brig that day. For whatever reason, the first thing this sick fuck decided to do was go to one of the lakes and catch a couple of turtles. Found out he was up on the 4th floor of the barracks, basically pushing them off the smoking pit area. When staff duty found out what he was up to, he ended up getting a ninja-punch or going back to the brig. Can't remember which exactly, but something not good.

So in 2011, I was senior Lance pretty much on charge of the shop screw up. Said screw up shows up an hour late to work one day gets sent to buff and wax the stairwell. 30 mind after he gets to work, our sncoic gets a call from his room mates sncoic. The guy was late to work cause he was down in the parking lot catching a cat and had locked it in his closest. Needless to say our sncoic took him to the barracks, grabbed the cat and took him to the pound to drop it off. He got a formal counseling and continued to be a screw up.

Sleep walking drill sgt walked in our bay just like above photo . went down to the third bunk on right and climbed in lower bed that was occupied . Occupant got up screamed "What the hell you doing" Drill SGT. was sound asleep . CQ came up and was able to wake him up enough to get him back to his room . This happened every training cycle . Was the result of PTSD . He did multiple tours in NAM with Americal DIV. as an infantryman !

It wasn't seen but done. We had just got back from our ftx and were cleaning weapons. We had done this for a while and then got a brake to go into the bay and chill for a hour. Well out of a 60 man bay there was only five people living in there so we had a lot of unused wall lockers that had shit in them from past classes " this was my AIT training " so we came in and all of it was throwen on the floor they tossed it no big deal really we all under stood so we cleaned it up took our brake and went ouside. Wecame in not 20 min later and our bathroom was destroyed they had shaving cream and tooth past and baby powder spread all of the place, it was so bad that the older Sargent's where pissed. But with out last end of course briefing we got to talk to command Sargent major. He was not happy and the Sargent's where very nice to us after that.

Came back from a 30 day field op on a Friday night, everyone had been dry for about 35 days. It was a Friday that we got back and they put me on duty. EVERYBODY went hamf and it was a fucking nightmare. Ncos tried to help, but they were all wasted and started fighting. Called plt sgts, they showed up useless and drunk, battery gunny, wasted, Plt commanders wasted, 1st sgt wasted Co wasted. Ended up having to get pmo to calm things down.

Came back from our udp vacation in okinawa and there wa's a hurricane rolling in. I threw my stuff into my room and headed for ashville so I wouldn't be stuck in my room for two days over the 96. On my way out I saw people carrying 5-6 cases of beer a piece into their rooms. I came back and saw the destruction and asked "holy shit was the hurricane really this bad? Duty was like "no just a little rain and like 30mph wind". Apparently there was a paintball war. A bunch of broken windows, brown beer bottles and cans everywhere, puke everywhere, and something had been lit on fire and tossed around. Unit was no longer allowed to have alchohol in or around the barracks.

I was stationed at Twentynine Palms, CA (AKA The Stumps) and had a PFC that seemed to always be in trouble. One Friday night I get a call around 0230 and it is my PFC, apparently he had been drinking at a Corporal's house with one of my LCpl's and my Cpl's roommate, which happened to be a female. The roommate brings out a large dildo and proceeds to start slapping people in the face with it. My LCpl wanted no part of it and decided to leave the PFC to fend for himself. The PFC decides to leave (after being beaten with the 18 in dildo) and starts walking down the highway. San Bernadino County Sheriff's Dept. stops him for walking down the center of the Highway, He calls me right before the officers stop him and forgets I am on the phone. The officers start questioning him about his black eye. He tells the officers what has happened and the officers feel so bad for him, they take him back to the barracks and no charges are filed. The interesting part of this story is I had to tell my Capt, which is female, about the incident without busting out laughing.

We had an AGI coming the Next day and inspecting the barracks... Back in the days when they used white gloves ... July 1973
We were up all night washing, cleaning, and buffing the Floors Arranging footlockers and Wall Lockers... with a corner of the wool Blanket...
Some one showed up about midnight with a 1/2 gal of Rum and we raided the coke machine in the in the Day room by 0200... (2 AM for the guard and reserve... )

The four of US were buffing the floor in 1 Red... 1 White ... 1 Blue and 1 Kelly Green Under-ware... and cleaning the room a 3rd time to make sure every thing was spotless... and drunk as a skunk and none of us were paying attention the what was going out side the Room at 0200 ...
... About 0345 we stood back at the door to admire our work only to realize the WACS barracks ( with 150 ladies) behind us had emptied out and we got a standing ovation for the Job we did ... and were rated By color coded cards as to our performance... to include ridding the Buffer ...

OSUT Ft Knox 1st Plt. B Trp. 5/15 Cav. Drill Sgts come in and do inspection while a screw ball pvt ((he was a fuck up)) was cutting up and doing impressions. Turns out he had alcohol, and weed hidden in his locker underneath the drawers thinking the drill Sgt. wouldn't check as long as the rest of the locker was in order.

We were on a pretty long underway, inserv lots of GQs and port and starboard watches. Everyone was on a different schedule pissy and tired. I just came off a long watch ate, showered and crawled in my rack. Just as I started falling asleep, some loud metallic rattling nose filled the room. Everyone started waking up swearing and throwing shit around. Evidently the source was a female that fell asleep with her vibrator in, it somehow dislodged itself and rolled all the way to the foot of her rack, then became logged between her mattress and thin piece of metal. There is stayed clattering away for a good 15 or 20 minutes. Unbeknownst to its owner who had her headphones on. Mandatory inspections followed the next day at cleaning stations.

I was ETSing from Germany. I moved back into the barracks to clear and brought Dachshund with me. Top knew she living in the barracks. About 4 days before leaving we had an IG inspection. Stella, the dog, got passed from room to room as the inspection progressed. When the General got to my room, Stella got lose and came sauntering into the room, jumped on the bed, layed down and looked the General right in the eyes. He continued looking around the room, turned to leave and said,"Nice dog. Your taking her with you, Right?". I answered "Yes Sir!". Nothing was ever said about the incident.

During a room inspection, I walked into a 2 person room. I immediately noticed the table in the common area was covered in short curly hairs. Both of these soldiers were blonde, and did not have curly hair. One of them had shaved their nuts over the table and not cleaned it up. The kitchen was a disaster. Old empty food trays were stacked in the corner. The fridge contained a food tray Petri dish, blue milk, and a package of ham that was furry with mold. Moving to the bathroom, thankfully there were 2 razors (not washed), 1 toothbrush, and a bottle of toothpaste. The tub only had a washcloth and a single bottle of body wash, and no curtain or bath mat. Inspected both rooms; one had been sleeping on the bare mattress and was using the green wool blanket as a pillow (it was a darker green/black where the indentation of his head was). At this time a fellow NCO called me back into the bathroom. He pointed out there was only one small stained towel in the bathroom that they had also been sharing. He also noticed there was no toilet paper in the barracks room, not even an empty roll. The other soldier had to move clothes to create a walkway for us to inspect his room. That was by far the nastiest room I had ever seen.

Had a crazy PFC drunk when I was on CQ one night. He was attempting to get candy from a machine and got ripped off. He proceeded to throw the candy machine down a flight of stairs. Walked down and retrieved his single candy bar. As the ACQ was detaining him while I called the MPs he broke free and grabbed two fire extinguishers. He held us at bay with them until the MPs arrived. He then discharged one of them on the MPs until they subdued him.

basic training 1991 C Btry 2 Bn 30 FA Ft. Sill,Ok went to a rodeo in the cattle trucks will our canteens as we had to drink a quart of water on hr we had to keep them on us at all times. Well needless to say some private had a beer and had to piss on the way back to ft. Sill so he dumped his canteen out and pissed in it. so we get to the drill pat and the Ds says empty your canteens and hold them upside down over your head well low and behold on chump doesnt do it so the Ds says drain your canteen still not happening so the ds grabs and opens it and smells it. whever ever happened next dont know. we also had the invisible Drill Sergant who approved the vending machines at 1 in the morning alomg with all the no go stuff.

There was a mad shitter in the barracks. Turds would be found on the latrine floor, in the deep sink. The walls of the commodes would be smeared with shit.

The mystery was finally solved when an alcoholic SSG was found passed out on a toilet, pants down and shit on his hands and on the walls.

When I was in basic training at Fort Knox in 1962, there was this individual who wanted to show us recruits how to drink liquor. He took a 5th of whiskey at began at the back wall of the old WWII style barracks and started walking to the other end of the barracks. He would drink and walk and when he reached the opposite end of the barracks the bottle was empty. He was out like at light bulb and nearly died, all to show how boys from Chicago could dink liquor. What some people will do to impress others. I always thought that was so stupid.

During weapons maintenance a solider was sitting on the floor while a battle buddy was on his rack me an 3 other soldiers watched as the one went to squeeze the trigger stopped and charged the handle and a live round flew out the barrel was pointed right at the back of the soldiers head on the ground

While I was stationed on the USS California CGN-36 a PO3 showed up to check in onboard as a new crew member with 30 day beard growth, needing a haircut, wearing shorts and a t-shirt. When the OOD asking why he was not in uniform and properly groomed he said at his last duty station in Hawaii people checked in like that. The OOD told him to come back when he was in uniform. He was totally embarrassed. Felt sorry for the guy. It was in the log book for everyone to see and give him grief about.

Fire alarm tripped at the gym. Marines had just finished doing water training during that time. Poor guys barely had time to get wet uniforms off before their Drill forced the evacuation. A lot of brown shirts and wet tighties standing in formation waiting for the emergency responders.

A helicopter. I was stationed down at Ft Rucker as an MP, was making patrols around the WOC aviation barracks and saw a tail of a Huey sticking out of the double doors of the barracks. This was after Viet Nam and training got a little tense on aviators.

NAS Port Lyautey, Kentria, Morocco......as we had three section duty, and shared the base with the French, and they were still fighting in Algeria. For our security the hangar watch carried a carbine, duty belt. Around 1930, in the day room I was reading, and at the center table two sailors, and the watch, duty belt on floor, carbine in a lounge chair, all with their pants at their ankles having "crab" races. (learned to keep your crabs, and not kill them off, withing two weeks you would have a new crew to train). Now draw a Small circle on a sheet of paper with a larger circle around it, as they were picking crab out of the pubic hair and placing their crab in the inner circle, first crab to the outer circle wins.... Well, then we hear "Attention on Deck", as the section leader enters followed by the Duty officer. Section leader handled it well it was the Duty officer that went crazy..........rippin and tearing up the section leader and the lad on watch, watch was relieved an spent the night in the brig. Chief had to sign him out next day.

A boot camp buddy and I were attending electronics school in Millington. This particular day we had duty section and between musters we went to the rec center to play pool. There were a couple of females there and we did our best "impress you babe shit". Before we knew it we were late for the 1800 muster. When we got to the barracks one of our classmates said that we were 2 of the luckiest SOB's ever. The Sergeant of the Guard took note that we missed roll call and had gone to his desk to write us up. At that moment someone upstairs dropped a foot locker which happen to dislodge a framed copy of the UCMJ from behind the desk. The glass cut his head and he started bleeding all over his log book. He was taken to the infirmary. Needless to say we did not get written up. Luck of the Irish.

Sp4 Byron Skinner. I one had an NCO, old school to a fault, he was in the Army since before WW II. He did the profanity a mm from your ear bit and humiliated the offender in front of the Platoon. But the worst thing he did to a f—k up was dump a well used butt can on their racks. The smell will last at lest a week.

I was at Camp Pendleton in 1968 for advanced training and, at showers on evening a guy came out of the shower whistling. Now you know that both the Navy and Marine Corps seriously discourage whistling. Our company Staff Sargeant got in his face asking him " What are you, a fucking song bird? Stand right here and whistle Yankee Doodle!" There stands this guy with a towel around his waste whistling Yankee Doodle. One of the other guys in the barracks started to laugh...not a good move. The Staff SGT grabs him and drags him to where the other guy was whistling. " Stand here and laugh, you asshole!" So, here stands a guy whistling and a guy going Ha Ha Ha. Just a minute later another guy comes out of the shower and he is whistling! The Staff SGT goes ballistic! He Grabs this guy and dumps the but can of it's sand and cigarette butts and slams the bucket onto the head of this third guy, drags him over to the other two and says "Every time he laughs, you say""I'm an asshole"". So here stand three guys...tweet tweet tweet Ha Ha Ha I'm an asshole! I'm on the other end of the barracks chewing a pillow so I don't laugh and get pulled into this dog and pony show.

Wife, crib, baby, & pet dog. Guy was pissed I wouldn't clear him so he called 1st SGT. Asked him if he had been there and he said no. Asked him if he wanted to move the crib. End of conversation. :-)

Soldier gets of late shift. Starts cooking breakfast and then goes into room to talk to wife. Falls asleep. Blames stove for not turning off automatically (they don't) for the fire that almost burned down the barracks.

Unlocking doors for CSM during inspection. Hears someone in barracks room. Calls for them to exit or sending in dogs. Female comes out. SP4 that had that room was due for advancement board that afternoon. CSM said "Don't bother showing up."

Underaged soldier breaks into empty barracks room for a drink party. Falls asleep drunk and was there in the morning when the room was due for inspection. Goes next door to get his pants.

As a platoon leader in an AIT company, I saw all kinds of crazy crap. One time, I was called out in the middle of the night to take a kid to the hospital. He had threaded his dogtag chain up his nose, down his throat, and out his mouth. He then connected it back up and was running back and forth, kinda like a chain hoist, I guess. Anyway, it got stuck...

Another time, a guy's roommates had gotten tired of his unacceptable behavior (whatever it was). He passed out drunk one night and his "buddies" disassembled the bunk (his was on the bottom) and reassembled it with his on top - with him still in it. Then they went out into the hallway and pulled a fire alarm. Poor kid hit the concrete floor with his face, busted it up badly.

Years ago during a IG inspection a soldier left a piece of paper on his unmade bunk. It caused a stink at first but when it was read by the inspector and realized what it was. He then put it back and kept going. We found out later this soldier was a MOH recepitant. They are exempt from inspections. We discussed this with the soldier and corrected the situation. You still have have pride and follow the Guidelines and not embarrass the unit and commander

During AIT at Ft. Sill, Ok. back in early 1976 one Saturday night I walked into the barracks after many beers and as I went through the laundry room next to the latrine I just happened to see a pair of boots through the drier door glass with legs attached to them and exclaim out loud "there's someone in the f----ng drier!!!", I hear a laugh coming from somewhere , suddenly the door pops open and a cloud of pot smoke rolls out as he climbs out, guy had been smoking a joint INSIDE the drier.

Being semi permanent POOW, I got to see, (and usually deal with) the usual fare of quarterdeck antics. (Drunks puking on the quarterdeck being the most common). Another common occurrence would be the FNG being convinced that he had to stamp his name on his mattress, and it had to be done on the quarterdeck with a watchstander as a witness. So every once in awhile some kid would show up on the quarterdeck dragging his mattress behind him. There was also a rubber band fight that I may or may not have been involved in one day when our LPO started sniping them at us out of boredom, and we started shooting them back. It was kinda hard explaining all the welts to Chief.

Didn’t stay in one long, but when I did a room inspection of a sailor I failed them after walking in for the overwhelming disaster it was. Next day Chief received a complaint and to squash the complaint another inspector came with me for verification. Sailor claimed room was cleaned, so we proceeded to head back. Everything was just swept under a bed. Personal favorite part was a half eaten egg McMuffin molding for what looked like a few weeks in the corner. Needless to say, Chief squashed the idea of me being to harsh. All other sailors were on point, so sadly this is all I have for story time.

Me, as a LTC some of my commanders thought I belonged in the barracks. It was uncomfortable for everyone. I was on the throne one morning and got saluted. It was probably the first time the enlisted guy had seen an officer appearing to know what he was doing.

I loved the look on my Company Commander's face when he opened one of my wall lockers to see the dash for a 1966 GTO, a case of motor oil, a propane torch and a large toolbox on one side. The other side had a small TV, and a complete stereo system. He started to say, 'What the..." then he shook his head and walked away while muttering, "I really don't want to know!"

A private tied to a bed mattress on the floor at a basic training unit in Aberdeen Proving Grounds. I was having to do barracks inspection as extra duty of WO school. Saw the tied down private and asked the on duty NCO what is going on here? He said she was drunk and running wild thru the barracks area and we had to tie her down to control her.
