I'm heading to FT Carson in the coming months and according to my ERB I am projected for 3ABCT which currently does European tours very simply to pacific pathways here at JBLM. Is there anyone that can tell me what 3rd Brigade is like, I have spend my entire career mounted and looking for some leg time. I here the rumors about 2IBCT and looking to join them but besides that whats the daily life a 3rd Brigade soldier both mounted and dismounted?

I served 6 years in the Iron Brigade. I believe they just returned from Europe. I don't have their long range training plan but I'd image they will be back on the NTC 12 month training program, individual testing, EIB, EFMB, small arms gunnery, and M1/M2 gunnery. Maintenance is the key in a heavy unit. Understand it. Leg time? Go for a hike up Pikes Peak and then head over to Manitou Springs and climb the Manitou Trail. There are tons of 10k and 14k mountains there. Pro Tip: Drive all the way to the end of MSR 1. You will be in Pueblo. There are three fishing lakes there no-one visits due to the length of the drive and the 30 mph speed limit. It is stocked with bass and cutthroat trout.
