What’s the most fun you had in the military?

This question generally brings up thoughts of major events, like when the whole maintenance section spent three days looking for the town of Umleitung in Germany, or when your vehicle broke down at the edge of some small town during a major field exercise and the whole division just when off and left you there for two weeks before anyone realized you were missing, but we don't tend to think as much about those moments of pure joy that we experience in the military.
Moments like when that first incoming round misses you or getting to a real commode after a week in the field -- THOSE MOMENTS are the real highlights of military service.

I told the unit I wanted a karaoke gong contest for the Christmas Party. We bought a gong and in retrospect perhaps that was an unauthorized purchase with government funds. It was around $50. I did not go to prison thus I did not worry about it.

Each platoon sung one song. They were neither good or bad. The gong master was very good and worked the crowd well.

Stationed in Panama, I played volleyball against three very competitive female players I was able to win all three games that we played.
