When i came back stateside and the Exercise phase exploded and a "fit/athletic" woman became the desired body for women to want and men to see, Deadlifts became to most over rated exercise. While it does offer a good workout it is primarily a power lift exercise and you have people who are not power lifters incorporating it into their workouts with little knowledge of what the exercise builds and is intended for. First its a compound exercise it's meant to build not cut, second the main focus is the hamstrings with the lower back as secondary worked muscle but people all too often over extend their back when performing it, lift with their back more than legs as well, it's a complicated lift hence it's relation to power lifting and as should be conducted in slow controlled movements to get the best possible results and not used because it's "IN".
