I have never been a fan of "forced patriotism'.....When the military movie theater plays the national anthem....I would hang out in the lobby waiting for all that stuff to be over....one night I was lost in thought and walked into the theater just as the flag was thrown onto the screen and everyone stood up. I thought "AWH hell, I am trapped".....As I stood there ....as we all stood there....NO MUSIC !.... we all stood there in the dark.....the flag waving....wondering what the hell do we do now???<br />Suddenly way in the back of the dark theater came the tiny voice of a child " Oh say can you see..... "<br />Soon the entire theater was filled with people singing.....I do not know about the others but I was not only singing.....I was crying...... remembering all my brothers who's voice was lost on the battlefield.... <br /><br />For me the National Anthem will always bring a tear to my eye....Response by MSG James Hughs made May 7 at 2017 12:03 PM2017-05-07T12:03:57-04:002017-05-07T12:03:57-04:002013-12-29T15:01:37-05:00
