This is unequivocally an egocentric and self-centered response, but I don't care. Helping posters with PTSD.

This is feedback from someone I helped:

I met Major Ken Landgren (U. S. Army, Retired) in a somewhat unusual way, on a military social media site. I ran across a thread the Major had written regarding PTSD. His post indicated he himself had suffered from PTSD for several years and had written a paper called Love Squared on this subject to help others. Like many Veterans, I didn’t want to admit I had PTSD. To open up made me feel vulnerable. I didn’t contact him immediately but after a couple days my curiosity compelled me to reach out to Major Landgren to gain access to the paper. Was he for real or was he an internet boaster? I did not know. My expectations were fuzzy.

Ultimately, I wanted to know if his paper could help me and set me free from the chains of PTSD. I asked the Major for his email address so we could communicate outside of the social media site. I sent him a message and asked if he could send me the paper. Major Landgren immediately replied with a link to his paper in short order. He also messaged that he would be available to me any time and would listen to anything I would say. Little did I know reading the paper was the beginning of my recovery. It was a welcome respite.
I had severe PTSD for 60 plus years and wanted my life back. None of my therapists over the years materially helped me. I had to try something different. In the paper Major Landgren wrote about his personal struggle with PTSD, trying to get help, and how it affected him. Then he proceeded to explain the self-healing path he took on his road to recovery. I instantly connected with the paper because he described his PTSD tribulations which significantly mirrored mine. I became aware that he knew a lot about me and understood my PTSD. I appreciated his empathy and compassion.

I welcomed his offer to assist me in my personal journey to minimize the effects PTSD was having on my life. Following his advice from the paper and communications through email I was able to start the healing process of shedding major issues. He gave me hope and a way forward. For someone to help another successfully accomplish this is quite an achievement. What we need to remember is that Major Landgren doesn’t have a psychology degree, but what he does have is life experience. Education is great, but real-world experience is better in this case. The Major lived it. He could understand and relate to what I was going through. I appreciated his stubbornness to help people. I can characterize he has great compassion, experience, and intuition.

While nobody is ever one hundred percent cured of PTSD, it is possible to minimize the effects of this with help. I am forever thankful and grateful I found Major Ken Landgren. Trust the process with an open mind and give it your all. It helped me and it can help you too. Be mindful that setbacks are normal. Sometimes it feels like you went forward three steps and back two. Don’t let this get to you. Perseverance is the key. After my healing Major Landgren said I hope all your dreams come true, and I will be so happy for you. He gave me a second chance in life that I never expected. My family and I can truly live now. He did not ask for anything from me but one thing. He asked if I have my life back, and I said yes.

Support for Veterans in a mental health crisis is the most powerful and uplifting thing I have seen on RallyPoint. Resources during a crisis feel few and far between, and the stigma we often associate with asking for help makes it even more likely we won't, which is why I appreciate the constant reminders of where to go and who to ask for help.

Rally Point is just a unique website. In my opinion all opinions matter. A place where Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors can have an opinion and not feel like their opinion is stupid or not up par with some. There are various ages on the website, various ethnic backgrounds, and various ranks. Again, my experiences here have not been more than positive. I have had deeper discussions offline and opened my eyes and educated myself and appreciated the fact that we all have opinions and views that may not work together but work together. Now after the online discussion that's where the truth begins lol. But again to me, I have seen some very interesting posts and questions and my gosh sometimes you just have to shake your head and reread it slower to understand it but I have yet to see a negative or what could be a negative answer. Maybe because some are good with words or some have to write and delete and write till it sounds right lol. Either way a great website for resources and current events and a great way to educate yourself for free.

Hello Mates,
I've seen so many uplifting things since being a member of RP. If I have to pin down one thing, it would be the contributions of all the RP members. Being out of the military since 1996 , I find various conversations or views, rather positive or negative, on RP that piques my interest, so much that I have found myself responding RP members. Which is out of my norm.
It's also a way to see how member's views have changed over the years. Just the fact that RP members take the time to read other RP members' questions is not only beneficial to that member but also other RP members with questions or concerns with similar situations.

The most uplifting thing I have seen on Rallypoint is the camaraderie and support. When people are going through things, the prayers and support are amazing and seem to be never-ending. And the people here on Rallypoint make a point to check back on each other to see if they need anything else. It is a Buddy Check on the next level. It is great to see, even when there are generations between Veterans because we all know our Brothers and Sisters are there for us.

I think that the Military One Source post was very uplifting. Having used this resource in the past, my family received great help in finance and counseling services. The specific advertisement I saw was for parenting help. This can be very helpful for those new parents that need extra help. There is always something new to learn so even experienced parents may benefit from this program. Great benefit for veterans.

The most important thing to me that I have read on rally point is looking back on what we used to be and what we are now. We have all come a long way. I have looked back on soldiers that were with me and wondered if they have thought about me as I have thought of them. I hope and pray for them and all the things that they've gone through the nightmares the dreams and hope that they've been able to oversee them. I pray day in and day out for the recovery for them and for their family members in hopes that they will be able to someday become who they were once were before during and after the meaning of the words thank you for your service.

The most uplifting thing I see week after week it the brother and sisterhood amongst veterans. People who don't know each other, are from different backgrounds, with different experiences, and from different generations that share that one common thread...we are all veterans, willing to give our time, advice, and if needed direct assistance to another brother or sister-in-arms. I am amazed at the strength and resolve of veterans when we band together to help each other.

When you're used to civilians and have been using some military bearing in dealing with others on different sites, then you get to RallyPoint and people are genuine.
Some even take the time to text you and see if you're doing good.
It seems the vets on RallyPoint do show others they don't know/ have never met, etc., still consider others and treat others with common respect.

CDR Samuel M Smith, (SS) LDO USN Retire. Served 33year 8 months. Work with crew members that were great service members. I was luck to be a Commanding Officers twice and the people I worked with are the reason for my great Navy career. I had six crew members rise to the Officer Ranks and and one (1) go to the Naval Academy. One Female MS3 get selected to work at the White House.

I found the most uplifting story on RallyPoint is that Suicide is becoming more to the front of care that is needed. Veterans should be able to receive care without the added stress of hospital bills. Suicide is not something people should ignore. it's really awesome that our veterans can seek the help they need to become whole again.

I was able to touch base with an old friend from my Seabee days in Diego Garcia because Rally Point asked me one day if I recognized any of these shipmates! I did and we emailed back and forth and plan to meet up since we are only a few hours apart!! Such a small world in some cases!!

The most uplifting thing I've seen here is the brotherhood.. Many times we find ourselves feeling lost without the personal connections we had with our battle buddies. It's hard for a lot of us to find that again once we take the uniform off but reading a lot of these posts and the comments people receive, including myself, I don't know but to me that's a special connection people have that's like none other and I love to see that here!

This is great question to ask. What comes to mind at first is a post I read a while back in the beginning of the trans-gender discussions. The one that stood out to me was 1SG Jerry Heally's response. He said the military doesn't accommodate to us, rather we conform to the military.

Veterans being able to receive free emergency care if in a suicidal Crisis. This is amazing. Especially with the current state of our economy and challenges that add to the stress of our Veterans. <3

I just found out that Veterans in acute suicidal crisis now have a safe place to go for help at no cost without needing to be enrolled in the VA system! This is extremely up lifting to me because 25 years ago I was in that scary place and having that safe place made all the difference in my life!

The subtle and graceful way this community deals with differences in outlook or belief. While the current uniformed and civilian leadership of our DOD is antithetical to many of my foundational beliefs and practices, I remain proud of my years of active duty, reserve service in a unit and as an individual mobilization assignment. The opportunity for personal maturation and responsibilities well beyond what I thought were possible prepared me for a lifetime of trust, confidence and respect for others. Seeing this opportunity being available to folks young enough to be my grandchildren, I give thanks for the “watch one, do one, teach one” mantra I repeated to those who came after me and it still goes on today.

I love articles that speak to the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) because they fought a war that needed to be fought when the country was against them. The Vietnam Veterans displayed poise and grace under fire. These vets gave so much of themselves and a lot of them their lives.

This is to all Vietnam Veterans...Thank you for your service! Your sacrifice means a lot, and America can never repay you for what you gave to America. Freedom!

I proudly served in a TAC (Mountain Home AFB. ID) SAC (Anderson AFB Guam) ADC (777 Radar Sqaudron Klamath CA) MAC (Bergstrom AFB Austin TX) Weather Observer was in MAC Detachment 10. What I want to tell you, my wife passed and was buried at Riverside National Cemetery. I was thankful that she could be buried there because I am a veteran. By the way, the golf course next to the cemetery is going. to be used for veterans burial. I talked to a worker while visiting my wife's plot. You better put in reservations because the cemetery will be filled in by the year 2400. I was surprised by the flags put up also on Veterans Day.
