I received a LOC from my leadership for a late Government travel card payment because our bases finance office is severely understaffed. After leaving I was called back an hour later to get an LOR because someone in leadership mentioned I received a previous LOC a few months before. Not only is that a complete lie and there's nothing in my file, I was kicked off of deployment. I am a model airman

I don't know much about Air Force culture, but I can say that when a unit in any service deploys, they want to have full readiness and typically 90% of their slots filled with trained and qualified personnel. Units do not remove one of their members readily. I can't imagine a deployed unit removing a "model airman" from deployment.

From what I understand, A LOC is just a formal recording of an infraction. It lays out the specifics of an infraction including possible consequences of the behavior and provides guidance as to how to correct the behavior. A LOA indicates that there has been a pattern of a given undesirable behavior, implying an intentional disregard for a behavior standard. If my definitions are correct, then I don't understand how a "model airman" would be escalated in this corrective behavior.

When you signed your LOA, did you request to see the previous LOC?

I think we are missing part of the story here.

No sir I did not, and a conversation had with my commander today revealed that i did not have the previous LOC. And I have completed more training in my short time than most others in the same specially tasked job that I have. As well as the many awards and positive letters that I have received I think I am right to say that i am a model airman, considering those are words from members of my leadership to include my unit commander.

I think a "model airman" would be given a break. End of the day you did pay late and you can blame it on finance but it's still your responsibility.

So the punishment for the AF is to NOT deploy you?

I have not deployed yet, and our deployments are actually enjoyable especially for an eager airman wanting some real experience outside of one weekend a month
