So why do I keep finding people doing it? They are not fashion statement and they probably stink even if they've just been washed. And I'm not talking about mixing parts of the uniform with civies, I'm talking the whole thing? What's with PTs on the town?!? 2015-12-06T00:24:32-05:00 MSG Private RallyPoint Member 1154042

AR 670-1 clearly states PT uniform is to be worn for PT only, not going out on the town (paraphrase). I've yet to see any really decent looking PT uniform that I could imagine anyone would want to wear outside of PT! I wore those hideous gray things!
I could go on and on about what the Army now allows with respect to uniform wear, but I'll confine my comments to the PT uniform! CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 Response by LTC Stephen C. made Dec 6 at 2015 12:51 AM 2015-12-06T00:51:26-05:00 2015-12-06T00:51:26-05:00 MSG Private RallyPoint Member 1154085

So the backstory that started this. On my way up I85N toward FayetteNam. Just before I get into NC I stop for gas. In the attached McDonald's is a SM wearing his PTs. He was with family so I waited for him to walk away from the so I don't embarrass the guy. Do the ID card thing, you're messed up. He just got off work, blah blah, then as he turns and walks away he goes, "Gottcha bro." I had to walk away before I punched him in the face. Hood it looks like a lot of people join the Army for one enlistment to get free clothes, then they hand them out to friends and family. I've seen thugs walking around Wal-Mart with PT pants around their knees. I know they didn't buy them. I know they didn't earn them. Trips to walmart not okay. But then you have your profilers and they pretty much live in PTs because they are in 'recovery'. Then there was a unit that was captured and only had PTs that were donated to them to wear because they had been stripped of everything. so, perhaps ther is a reason they are doing that. If you had on a pair of jeans and was wearing an IPFU tshirt it would be ok. People wearing the entire uniform are wrong.
