Sure, some see it coming and take the appropriate detours. But what about the clueless many who drive themselves too hard and inevitably hit that barrier of human limitations? What can a service member do to preserve their career while he is rebuilding his sanity?

SSG (Join to see) run into this all the time. I usually see this in repetitive jobs like when I was in Finance. Same thing every day, just different people. I always looked for things outside my area to be involved in. Be in as simple as a different task in the office, or community service outside the office. Most people that hit the barrier if they are honest with themselves are in a job simple to get paid and do the same things in their regular life without realizing that is a rut as well. Be involved-may not solve everything but will challenge your mind and you may find something else out there worth doing.

Do you have a military mentor who you can bear your sole to with 100% honesty? That helped me a bit. Also consider tackling a passion project outside of the military.

Let's consider that a statistical rarity for the sake of those who don't find solid mentors before they PCS.
