Making sure we were organized, all the paper work was in one place. (Orders, moving inventories, maps etc). The "S-2" recon and Intel of the new post. (Are we living on post or off post. What's the area like.) "S-3" plans and ops, (What steps are needed to clear post, housing, provost marshall for vehicle registration, is everything ready.) And finally, the "S-4" is everything organized for the movers, food and snacks for the kids, and everything else that goes with the supply chain. Yes, PCSing can be fun, for everyone except the "chief of staff", she never complained, always made the move "stress free" knowing that every 24 months it was going to start again.
