Smiles used to set me off ... and just plan 'stupidness'; not ignorance but just plan stupid is as stupid does. (i.e. DS my boots really hurt my feet ... PVT your boots are on the wrong feet / which left? ... No your other left / DS my 'gun' won't shoot ... PVT your out of ammo)
Then there is always the stupid stuff that would get their battle buddy or themselves hurt/killed ... "Defense Department regrets to inform you that your son/daughter is dead because they were 'stupid'."
When the flagged their battle buddy or dropped a (training) grenade by them ..: PVT write a letter home to that Soldier's Mother explaining how they're stupidity resulted in a loss of their buddy.

constant missions and rotating candidates into command and key positions to assess their abilities the lead and Be lead...
as an Instructor, The key Phrase was ......never ask a Question Un-less you already Know the answer ...

SFC Domingo M.
I only have a short simplistic comment to, "Did not do the drill thing." Teaching and training the creme de la creme, and taking a civilian and breaking him/her down before you can start rebuilding them is totally different. Your answer is hidden within my short comment.
