The VA Medical center was ok. It was the medical facility on base that sucked.

Either I have it or I don't. It depends on with whom I speak. PCM and nurse say I have it because I have insomnia and nightmares and I try to avoid certain situations and places. Psych doc says I don't because I know I should avoid certain situations and places and sleeping pills will deal with the insomnia.

the va has been for the most part very good, but they push meds and councelling, sometimes i feel that i'm an experiment in pharmacology, as a medical person i know that pharmasuitecal conpanies make big bucks and anything that will hit thier pockets they will fight, i'm on 2 meds know but still have breakthru anxiety, cant wait to see what the psych doc does next, maybe the feds need to legalize weed, there are enough studies to prove its effectiveness

They told me I didn't have it. I'm just extremely anxious and depressed. Most of the psychiatrists and psychologists and testing showed I had some type of post traumatic stress. I'm still treated and manage most of the symptoms myself, when it increases.

I had a three minute meeting with a PTSD evaluator, and I told them that I had bad dreams for a couple months after my initial tour as an Infantryman to Iraq (Gulf War I), and then bad dreams for a couple of weeks after stacking naked bodies on the fantail of smallboats during the TWA-800 response, but that everything was cool now and had been for years.

Four months later I find out that I was given a 10% PTSD rating and my VA total was increasing. Okay.........

Oh lawd you had to ask this question. Deep. Very deep answers,here, but I'll keep it short and simple. Depends on the clinic. The er sucks here in Indy for people with PTSD. I have it. I should know. They stuck me in a crowded lobby during a heavy panic attack after I came in via ambulance. I eventually left and went upstairs to mental health clinic where I could do a walk in. The nurse didn't help much. She checked my vitals a few times and never hooked me up with a person to talk to. So mental health sucks in Indy. I walked out.
The GI clinic treated my PTSD like gold. Each person was aware of it and why. The nurse shared a story with me. So thumbs up to my colonoscopy and upper gi. OB/GYN tickled the daylights outta me she went so fast. She knew I had been raped and don't like strangers in my areas. So thumbs up to that clinic. My Fam dr sucks on timing. I sit for hours. My nurse is fast and doesn't listen. She dismisses me as if she's dismissing my service dog. All but saying begone! I get taken care of (eventually). Split thumb on that clinic. So see? It boils down to clinics.

My PTSD is MST related. The VA just wants to give me meds. They have me at 0%. I still cant sleep, I avoid crowds, have had too many jobs that I cant keep or stay focused on. I want and need to work, but cant stand people asking dumb questions. I wear and have to see and hear my product of MST daily. The hardest part of my life is not telling this child how he got here. Daily struggle .
