Bare Hill Pond bordering Devens in Mass. Bring nightcrawlers by the dock to satisfy the young rascals who want to catch sunnies on just about every cast. Jump on a boat and head out by blueberry island with some shiners for pickerel and other larger fish species. Need to be a resident though or the high school aged bouncers will send you packin'!

I can't give my spots away but for freshwater the lakes and rivers in central Maine are my favorite. Often I do more fishing than actual "catching" so having a pretty place to just relax on a boat is a huge bonus. Saltwater - Striper fishing - off the coastal rocks on Cape Ann or along the beaches of Cape Cod.

My best bass was caught at the Butler County lake in Kansas, even though it probably doesn't compare to the best catches of others. I'm still a little new to fishing. I'm actually heading up to Wisconsin later today--spending the weekend with some family--and I'm hoping to land a few big ones out of the St. Louis River. *Fingers crossed*

Well you first decide what you want to catch and then you head for the Watson Sag. Go to the east end of the bridge and then walk along the Chippewa River down to the first bend in the river bank heading east. Then walk 10 or 12 yards along the river until you see an old lawn chair which is mine.

Go ahead and make yourself comfortable. Worms are in the Styrofoam box under the chair. It just wouldn't be neighborly if I didn't share that too. Just remember to leave what you don't use and I will be mighty obliged too.

So you see that old branch just south of my chair? Don't cast in there it's taken a couple of my best lures this year and I ain't goin to lose any more.

We are going to drag it up on the bank with the four-wheeler this fall and get all of our tackle back so if you lost some in there already let me know what you lost and I will get it back for you as soon as I kin.

Stay back from the river bank as you well know shadows will spook the fish. If you end up catching your limit call me and I will help you eat some of it too! God Bless you friend and the very Best of Luck!

My favorite spot is anyplace I am alone on a wilderness lake with nobody in sight and can just relax and forget about the world for a while. It doesn't even matter if the fish are biting. Just being there soaking in nature and watching the world go by. This can be anyplace in the United States or Canada.

If I had to pick one place it would be the White River just below Bull Shoals Dam in Arkansas. Great place to camp and fine fishery with Rainbows and German Brown trout. Both of which when eaten fresh are top of the line fare.

Gasconade River, about 20 miles east of town, there are many access areas. Not a lot of fish, not the biggest fish, but always something and one usually has the place to oneself.

When I was stationed in Missouri at Ft. Leonardwood, I fished anywhere I could. Lakes, rivers, streams, or ponds, we were there. I caught my first large mouth bass at Lake of the Ozarks. I taught all my daughters how to do everything fishing. Baiting the hook, casting, and how to reel them in. We had a lot of good times and memories. Probably my favorite duty station, and for sure some of my best family memories!

Fishing trips and rural locations make picture perfect scenes. Norman Rockwell sadly isn't a part of our busy daily lives; but, I have found that there are so many hidden URBAN fishing locations within a few miles of my home. Aside from well known public parks stocked for fishing there are a range of ponds and creeks that provide hours of enjoyment! I have found that every cast I can sneak into a busy week is a successful cast!

Either pier fishing where I have caught huge Redfish, Sheepshead, etc.,

Offshore, 2 hours out, in the floating weeds, I've caught Bull Dolphin, Bonita Tuna, King Mackerel and MORE! Also I went bottom fishing for Red Snapper!

The Duck Valley ShoPai lakes on the border of Idaho and Nevada. The People do an amazing job of conserving hard fighting, huge trout in Mountain View and Sheep Creek Reservoir and in Lake Billy Shaw. It is an honor to fish on their reservation land and I always catch many big fish.

I routinely fish the Rappahannock River near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. I also fish Pamlico Sound out of Teach's Lair Marina and from the beaches in Hatteras Island, NC (just returned from a week of fishing in late June). Occasionally, I will take the boat into the Atlantic Ocean for certain fish species.

I love fishing off the coast of Catalina Island, finding the hot spots, and the epic battle the fish give you when you hook up. An extra bonus is watching a Bald Eagle fly down from a cliff side, and snatch a fish right out of the ocean right in front of you.

The South Fork of the Flathead River in Montana's Bob Marshall Wilderness Area is m favorite. Good fishing, fabulous scenery and no crowd. Flies, spinners and wedding bands. My best cast was just south of the confluence with the white river sending the hook in with the current into a pool behind rocks .

Favorite spot is Bird Creek, alaska.... Great fishing for Silver, Pink, and Chum salmon... Although Silver's were the only ones worth keeping... As long as I didn't disturb the bears that hung around there. They didn't disturb me... lol I'm glad salmon tastes better than people...

My favorite spot to fish is Farnum Creek on Milford Lake. The lake is next to Ft. Riley in Kansas. I spent 3 years there. Once i purchased a boat i made a lot of memories with fellow servicemen. Caught my personal best catfish on rod & reel out of that lake. Great spot to fish if you are stationed there. Hit me up for some fishing spots if you need them.

Well stocked ponds are a good place to go with the kids but I would have to say that Tenakee Springs, Alaska is the best, just have to watch out for brown bears. To be able to fish for salmon and halibut and then cook it the same day, wow it's like being in heaven.

Lake Anna, Virginia!! With over 200 miles of shoreline, this manmade lake has plenty of room! The Bass are the best but there are Crappie and Blue Gill along with Strippers. Artificial plastics, top waters, jigs all work depending on the time of day and season. If you have a chance to go, don't miss it!! There are also Fishing Guides available if you need.

A little known lake I have only had the pleasure of fishing twice. Quivira Scout Ranch north of Sedan KS. I knew a local scout master, he asked if I wanted to fish. The lake gets fished only 4 weeks a year when the Scout camp is in operation. The fish rarely see a fisherman and the lake is over 100 acres. The flathead catfish are 80lbs, or the 5 we caught were. The bass are 10lbs+, the crappie are 3lbs. You catch a fish on almost every cast. Everything got released except the crappie. We only kept 100 which was our limit, 50 each.

My favorite place is Fry's Grocery Stores. They have great-tasting fish already cleaned and I save the hassle of driving anywhere, doing all the work needed to go out in a boat, catch it, clean it, go home fry or bake it, whew, makes me tired just writing about it!!! Fry's meats dept. have several ocean and fresh water fish to choose from. (I have nothing to do with Fry's). I haven't fished for years---make that decades. Do they still use worms? Anywhere where Fresh or salt. In freshwater I prefer lakes and back country rivers/streams are my favorite, salt water The gulf of Mexico off of the Texas and Louisiana coasts, in my opinion they manage the Fisheries better than the other gulf states.

I have only been deep fishing twice many years ago. A neighbor invited me to troll amongst the King Fish about sixty miles and the Barracuda about thirty five miles off the eastern coast of Florida. While trolling in the Atlantic, this part of the ocean might be considered international waters, the lines hooked a King Fish. I grabbed the pole and started reeling for my life. After about ten minutes the fish outsmarted me, snapped the line and got away. I remember the lures reflected and shined in the water.

Most recently last year if I am not mistaken, another neighbor invited me to troll for some river fish on the creek. I hooked another fish. The bite was very faint. Neighbor said it was probably a flounder. Again, the fish got away. I felt the bite which was fun.

I captured this image on the Volusia / Flagler County line in Florida in approximately March of 2019 at sunrise. I may have tinkered with the colors of the image a little. I have additional images that reflect the sun's path across the water.

I like several places in the NoVA area. Sleeter Lake is a hidden spot in Round Hill, VA. Caught some big Bass there. Chesapeake Bay is great for catching Rock fish. Caught some big ones two weeks ago.

The Lower Laguna Madre off of South Padre Island is probably my favorite. The redfish and speckled trout fishing is pretty incredible. We used to take the canoe out behind the island at night and fish the lights behind all the rich peoples houses.

Easy! Best fishing spot in the world is at Hiawatha Beach Resort in Stover, Missouri. It’s secluded with a beautiful view. Very peaceful. The best part is that it’s owned by my grandfather, a Navy veteran. Nothing better than a nice relaxing view, fishing, and family!

I'll fish anywhere, but Lake Bob Sandlin up by Mt. Pleasant in NE Texas is a favorite of mine. It's nice to go fishing and not wonder IF you're gonna catch anything but WHAT are you gonna catch. Sand bass, catfish, black bass, crappie, you name it. Most people catch and release so it's always well stocked. You're welcome to eat the sand bass cuz there's a ton of them, healthy and fat too.

So, I have 2 favorite spots. The first is next to a seafood place, by the docks. My kids and I love going there and catching a ton of catfish and perch.
My second favorite spot is my buddies private pond. My kids and I have caught some monster bluegills and largemouth.
But any day on the water with my kids or father is a great day.

On May 14 2021 after a rough COVID lockdown, 6 or so of my best closest veteran brothers and myself traveled to San Antonio, Texas from various parts of the country to reunite and celebrate being vaccinated. It was our first time together in over 30 years.

We booked a fishing charter on nearby Calaveras lake. We drank beer, fished, laughed with and at each other for about 5 afternoon hours of perfect weather.

We each caught at least two freshwater redfish ranging from 26” to 31”. Fish were fighters we were using 4 downriggers so sometimes the fun was exponential with tons of buddy encouraging each other to reel ‘em in! Was so exciting.

We filet’d most of the catch but cleaned enough on a half shell for an awesome bbq get together the next day at a nice Airbnb property we rented for the weekend.

I’ll attach as many pictures as I can in this app, and anyone that was in 3d infantry division in Aschafenburg, Germany or deployed for desert storm from 1987-1991 please contact me so I can add you to our Roster!

Don’t think I have found a spot I didn’t like, yet if I had to pick my favorite, it has to be the Russian River in Alaska. I was raised on that river and I still continue to fish it to this day. My favorite part is helping visitors, who have not gotten the 411 on how to be successful, and watching them zero in on that salmon, hook, fight, and reel it in. The finishing touch, inviting them to the campsite, filleting and cooking it up for them...Great great times that Russian River.

Lake Eufaula on the Georgia/Alabama state line is my favorite place to fish. On any given cast you have the potential to catch your personal best largemouth Bass. Though my biggest two Bass were caught on another lake just a little further north I’ve caught more fish over 4 lbs on Eufaula than any other lake I have ever fished.

Although I now live in California, my favorite fishing destinations are in my home state of Wisconsin. You can fish for Walleye, Bass, Northern Pike and Muskie, perch, blue gill, crappie, and much more. Additionally, ice fishing in the winter is excellent.

My favorite fishing hole is the Delta Clear Water River, near Delta Junction, Alaska. What's not to love about a world-class, 100% wild, arctic grayling stream less than 5 mile from my front door? Besides trophy grayling, there's a late run of big coho (silver) salmon that will attack a lure out of pure meanness and hate!

Fort Drum, Recreation Lake 2007. It's well stocked, and I saw a lot of LM Bass diagonal from the beach/swimming area at a tree that overhangs into the water. There's also a sunken tree right there and I saw a couple 2-3 pounders and a few smaller ones there. Spent hours casting there from a canoe, different lures, but I couldn't catch any of them. Had no luck all day, on any square inch of that lake, and I paddled to all of them. HOWEVER, I caught this mamma-jamma on my last cast. I was on my way back to return the canoe, stopped ~100 yards from the beach (on the same side) and cast towards the reeds which I thought were actually growing out of the shoreline. I thought I was snagged, there was no fight, and I was reeling the canoe to the shore. It wasn't until the tip of my canoe got close to the weeds that I found-out I'd finally caught something! It was about 7lbs, more like 15lbs if you consider I had to hold it out with 1 arm and get the picture with my 2006 flip-phone camera in the other! Oh, and I can also provide a picture of my sneaker for scale if requested (I had to keep it for my zoom skeptic co-workers at the time and it just became habit LOL) " I think we're gonna need a bigger boat!" :)

I tend to spend a lot of time on the Green River and Deep Lake in Western Washinton. I catch small trout and bass all day long. Someday I will make a trip to the eastern side of the state for larger trout, but not any time soon.

My wife and I moved to Lake Odessa, MI recently to be close to the water and a boat launch. We found a great home here. This year we got on to some big bluegills one evening on our small fishing boat. We cranked in our limit of 24 and ran out of grubs. That was a few weeks ago on Jordan Lake. The next trip, she landed her first large mouth. It was a great fight. Sometimes the best casts are the ones you are the net man for. GET THE NET!!! My current favorite spot to fish is North Catamount Reservoir located in Pikes Peak Recreational Area, Colorado. It sits at 9,354 ft, and is a beautiful place to fish. However, my best cast was at Convict Lake, California, where I caught an 11lb 7oz Alpers Trout on a rainbow Thomas Bouyant.
I hope to beat that sometime.

Eagle Valley Reservoir in Pioche Nevada. Never in my life have gone fishing for trout and caught my limit in 3 hours. It's a nice drive up into the middle of nowhere. 4 different types of trout that are screaming "catch me" on anything you throw in the water. I think the trout were pushing each other onto our hooks.

So far I have had my best catch at Cherry Creek State Park. There I caught a Walleye that was long enough to keep. I gave it away as I don't cook fresh fish. I love to fish and just about any where would be fine IF it is not to far for me to walk. I don't do distance walking with ease any more.

Douglas lake in eastern Tennessee! Throwing a buzzbait at night, in a holler called muddy creek! It's a pretty big holler, but anyplace you can find a good rock bank or rocky point you will catch bass. A whole lot of big bass in this lake.

I love to go to the Cherokee Reservation in N.C. and trout fish!!! They restock there mountain streams every week with large different types of trout and I love catching them!!! You can fish in all the mountain streams on the Cherokee Reservation in N.C. and they have several trout ponds you can also trout fish from and catch large one's and you can keep each day a limit of 10 trout, so if you get time make a trip to Cherokee Reservation in N.C. it is only 4.5 hrs. drive from my home in Grovetown, Ga. and a lot of Great things to go do and see on the Reservation and all the people you meet are very friendly and helpful!!! Yall, the truth is until a few years ago I was not a fisherman, I loved to spearfish SCUBA diving or free diving. However, that all changed after my son graduated high school and moved to North MS for College at University of Mississippi AKA Ole Miss. My wife and I were recently retired and thought we should move as well. So we moved close to Sardis Lake.

IMPORTANT PART: Sardis lake my wife and I have caught white bass, striped bass, catfish and my very favorite crappie. Even my son a busy student got into the excitement perusing the spoonbill catfish. The truth is I am not sure what all we have caught but we have made it our goal to try every kind of fish we caught, luckily we liked them all.

My first time was Waukegan North Harbor, Illinois. My first catch was almost a 16 pound Salmon. Returned at least 6-7 times annually and always caught large fish.

Don "TheSoleman" Franklin, turned me on to this spot one morning, we pulled in there, birds were diving on the water, sure sign of good activity.. It turned out to be a Wide Open Striped Bass bite.. No matter what you tossed in, you would get hit, most of the fish shallow were a bit small, but if you got down deeper, there were some good ones, I got a 10 pounder out of there that day, and a 5er.

One of my absolute favorite places to fish was a spot in Beaverdale, PA that connects to the Beaverdam Run. It's a great place for fishing as my friend and I caught our legal limits easily. We had our pick of the fish as we both cleared about 40 fish EACH, and kept our chosen fish for our limit out of those. Beautiful day, beautiful fish; non-stop action, and the company of a good friend- I will honestly treasure that memory until I die. It was one of my best fishing days in a long time.

We had success with nightcrawlers as bait; although Powerbait rainbow and Powerbait chartreuse were efficient that day as well. The most successful cast was within spools of water where an almost "mini-waterfall" from one spot of the water to a lower section connected. That's where the most trout catches occurred. The remainder of the day was spent preserving our catches and also doing a bit of ginseng exploration.

My favorite place to fish is in eastern Tennessee, at Douglas lake! I've caught a bunch of 5 pounders! Ton of big smallmouth to. My favorite place to fish is in a holler called muddy creek. Find any deep rock banks and rock points, fish won't be far!

My favorite is a remote, private little lake in Hubbard County, MN, called Rockwell. Close to home, my wife's childhood fishing hole, and lots of hungry bass. Water as clear as that from a faucet on my farm.
As for my most successful cast, that was on Wisconsin's Chippewa Flowage. A monster Muskie hit my incoming line hard enough to break the end of my rod and spit out my lure with such force that it flew more than 100 yards. I'll go back one day and get him.

Santee-Cooper Lakes in South Carolina is by far my best fishing hole for any kind of fish year round. It has very large blue cats and flat heads. Have hooks some bigger than 50lbs + that we were unable to land them as they broke the line or rods...lol.
Have also caught my biggest large mouth bass, 6lbs there. Have also caught bream as big a 2lbs. Have never seen bream that big before until my brother in law showed me how to spot'em.
Santee Cooper has so many kinds of fish that is very enjoyable. You can start your fishing trip fishing for bass, bream, crappie or what ever and at night go cat fishing. You don't have to fish at night for catfish as they bite in daylight too. At night, shallow waters (2 - 5 ft) is best for big cats. If you have never fished this lake, I highly recommend it. There are many fish camps around the entire lake with accommodation.

Favorite fishing spot is Pickwick Dam. Above or below the dam is great fishing for multiple species. Favorite cast was catching top water stripers below the dam. Man those fish fight hard when you catch them in the boils.

Since I can't say Diego Garcia, I'll go with Corpus Christi, Texas around Little Shell. Jetty fishing at Cape May NJ. Best place is the jetty behind the Nun Convent by the Cape May Light House. Large Stripers, Flounder, Weak Fish, and Bluefish. Good bait is Mullet and cut bait. Check at Jim's bait shop Cape May NJ for the best bait and what fish are running off of that Jetty for that time of the year

Powerton lake in Pekin Illinois. It's stocked with blue catfish, hybrid striped bass, and dozens of other species. You can always count on catching at least a 15lb blue out there. I've only been fishing it this year but my best is 34lbs. It's not a giant but I'm steadily getting bigger fish. I'm going to catch a monster in there!

I fished a large local pond in Bradley County TN years ago with my father in law, a retired Spec Ops CSM who started in the horse Cav before WW2. My best fishing story was at Lake Almanor, No. Calif. Walked down to the dock where I found 4 older men fishing. They said I could join them. So I checked out the conditions and noticed a lot of shad in the water. So I open up my tackle box and baited up a rubber minnow and the second cast a beautiful 5 lb Rainbow Trout hit that line and put up a pretty good fight. After landing him the old guys said ok you can go
home now.

So my favorite and most successful and convenient fishing spot is at a river by the train tracks near this store called Davis sport shop in New york state. Davis sells outdoors equipment and live bait. This river has trout mostly. The fish thrive in this river becuase there is so much food for the fish like tadpoles and bugs. Incredible amounts of wild food for fish. I could not find a spot that didn't have tadpoles one day. There are all plenty of bait fish you can catch aswell easily with a net and some bread. The most efficient ecosystem I've ever seen. You'll catch 2 fish every hour on a nice day gaurenteed. My second best spot if for pickerel on this river in Middletown NY on a small bridge. There are also huge and I mean huge bass jumping out of the water. Like a baby dolphin lol

Best place I ever went fishing was Grenada Lake spillway! It's in Mississippi. If you ever have a chance to go I definitely suggest it! Me and my brother would go and spend all day there catching fish. The one time that I will never forget is while we was down on the rocks I was tight lining for catfish while my brother was casting out and hooked something big. We had fished a lot and could almost tell from how they fight what type of fish it was but when I asked he could tell. Well I walked over and down to the edge where he was reeling it in. When it got close to the bank all I could do was stare! I had never seen and only heard of a spoon bill catfish but my brother just caught one! It was huge! My brother (smiling from ear to ear) reached down and picked it up by the bill and held it up. It was almost as tall as he was. It was a great fishing trip!

Moosehead Lake, Maine. You and three others have to be flown in on a small prop pontoon plane (Monday) and picked up, flown back {Friday). Fly-fish with waders or canoes. Game warden visited often on a Wednesday to count trout/skeletons to ensure only six trout caught per day. I was blessed to go with my Pop and his WWII buddies. Easily the greatest week of every year!

Mosquito Lagoon located in the Canaveral National Seashore in Florida. Because it is in a national Seashore it is accessible to veterans with the Veterans Free Annual Pass. This means less pressure on fishing in a great place with epic fishing for inshore species like Redfish, Sea trout, Black Drum and Sea Trout. What a beautiful place to enjoy nature. As an added bonusif you fish on a day they launch a rocket from the Cape you have a front row seat to an awesome event for the water or shore.

Gratiot Lake in Upper Michigan. The best spot to cast depends on what your fishing for, bass, northern pike, perch, etc. large bass can be found NW corner of the lake. If you make the trip there be polite to the residence living there or they might tell you to go jump in Lake Superior which is only about 2 miles away as the crow flies. LOL

My favorite place to fish is Kellys Island off of Marble Head Ohio. My friends and I have been fishing there for Walley during the first week of July for about seven years. The fishing is good in this area during that time of the year, after that the fish move east toward Erie Pa. Lake Erie Walley are in my opinion the very best fresh water fish that can be found. We trailer the boat and board the Marble Head ferry, while on the island we rent a slip at the marina and fish every day for a week. We rent a condo with all of the needs for a comfortable stay. There is a state park on the island and the fish commission offers a nice fish cleaning station. Lake Erie walley fishing is the very best.

Shoreline fishing at Fort Pickens National Gulf Islands Park is the best. Not only has beautiful calm white sand beaches of Pensacola Beach, bird sanctuary and over abundance of fish from the Gulf of Mexico, but it is also a wonderful spot full of military history with old Fort Pickens and very friendly to veterans of all branches. Bonus points... it is a great spot to watch the Navy Blue Angels conduct their regular practices at Pensacola Naval Air Station.

My favorite fishing spot is at Duck Lake in Calhoun County, Michigan. Some of the best Largemouth Bass I have caught has been on this lake. Best place to catch them is near and North of the large dropoff that goes East to west across the lake. I like to go out in the crack of dawn to fish because that is the best time of day to catch them. Rainy or cloudy days are the best to catch these monsters. Seriously. I have fished at a number of great spots. Kenia Peninsula, Alaska, The Potholes, WA., Clear Lake, CA but most of these were "back in the day." Don't know now.
As a footnote, there were a number of nice lakes on Ft Richardson when I was there (1978-1982) that usually provided good fishing. However, they also provided Black Bears.

I am going to Southern Colorado next Thursday to meet my son and fish Valliecito Lake, north of Durango, CO. I'll let ya'll know how I do.

My favorite fishing place in the world is about 50 feet from my porch, about a three acre lake stocked with Florida hybrid bass and very large bream.

The best day I had the stereo up and was doing a little fun casting and on two consecutive casts caught a couple 5 - 6 pound bass that fought me all the way until they were released for another day.

I have a couple places I love to fish.
The first is the Marias River. The tailwater below Tiber Dam or Lake Elwell south of Chester Montana holds huge trout. There is a lot of competition in this river by northern pike and walleyes. You aren't going to catch a lot of trout here when you go fishing but you have a chance of catching the "fish of a lifetime" whenever you fish the first 5 or so miles of this tailwater.
The second is relaxing fishing in Fresno Lake just west of Havre, MT. There are various locations that you can go and fish from the bank. I enjoy taking a folding chair, some smelt and setting it out on a fish-finder rig. There are quite a few northern pike looking for a meal. Getting out and sitting beside the water catching an occasional fish helps soothe some of the anxiety away. In my opinion, Northern pike is some of the best eating fish out there. Many people love walleye but give me a pike any day of the week. They have the difficult to fillet y bones but catch a big enough one and you will find them easy enough.

This cast was my most successful cast. Back where I was a young guy, I was was taking a break from fishing. It was in the morning and I was just sitting on the bank. My hand was tired from catching bass. I could barely open and close it. I was on leave from the Forrestal. She was docked at Mayport Fl. And I wanted to see the everglades so I thumbed a ride to a place called saw-grass. I tried to sleep the night before but the skeeters thought I was the main course. Not being able to sleep I started fishing at first light. Under a calm blue sky there was a large of pool with reeds rising up about 70 feet away on the others side. My side was a nice grassy bank that sloped into the water and I was using an open faced Daiwa reel, an Eagle Claw back packing rod, 6 # test with a Rapala 4” floating silver minnow.
As I sat there resting two eyes rose up from the water like twin periscopes and started to glide across the water. I just couldn't resist casting out. I'm a dead shot with casting, so I shot my Rapala out so the eyes were between the lure and myself. I reeled in line and the lure combed across the things neck and should have snagged it. But it slid right off and the creature rose up to look about like it was thinking, “what the hell was that?” At that point it started swimming towards the reeds on the other side. If it was at 12:00 I cast out few feet in front of it but at 11:00. The lure rested on the surface the thing was about even with it so rather than reel the lure in I just twitched it. The monster swung about ninety degrees so now it was swimming towards me with my Rapala between us. I saw down it's throat as it's huge jaws opened and heard a loud smack as it closed it's jaws.
Afterwards and full of adrenaline, I found deep teeth makes in my lure as the thing immediately spit the lure out. Yeah, this cast was my most successful, as after it was all over I had to think, “if it got hooked, who the heck would have removed a hook from the mouth of an alligator?”

My favorite fishing spot was in Kansas. Just north of Manhattan. It's where the Blue and Republic Rivers come together to make a 'Y'. They then flow down and help form Tuttle Creek Lake. That is where I caught my biggest Flathead Cat Fish...a fifty pounder. Those rivers come out of Nebraska and the water is crystal clear clean. Bonus is getting Morel Mushrooms in the same area when they are ready to harvest. A great way to get back to nature and be alone...not many people know about this secluded area so, you can even go naked if you desire. A great way to clear your mind of clutter! Try it, you'll love it...Sincerely.

I love fishing for perch on Fish Lake WA near Lake Wenatchee. Most years the fishing is very good as the lake has lots of food for them. Sometimes I get lucky and get a bass or trout but I love to eat perch so focus on them. I go to the Cove Resort to launch my boat and fish the cove and out around the bay to the right. I've never come home empty-handed. They also have a fishing dock and rent boats for anyone without their own. Lots of fun!

Lake Fork in East Texas. We had a lake front lease up Little Caney Creek. We fished every kind of fishing there are. We trot lined, the biggest channel cat was 23 pounds. The biggest high fin blue was 29 pounds. My largest crappie was 17 1/4 inches. My largest bass was 25 inches 12 pounds. My wife's largest bass was 10 pounds and 22 inches. I bragged I could catch near 50 quality bass a day on just top water fishing. I had a friend call me on it, he didn't believe me. So a fishing we went. At the end of the day he believed me. But crappie fishing and trot lining art favorite.

I've caught many big fish, but everytime I'm on the water is awesome! I enjoy watching the people I'm fishing with catching fish as much as I do catching them. My biggest/best fish was actually one I never got the chance to land, a 20+" brook trout on a stream in Michigan's U.P. I fought him for a couple of minutes and had him within arms length. I still feel blessed to have witnessed such a unicorn!

To date, my favorite place to go fishing in America is the "7 Mile Hole" on the Yellowstone River. The cutthroat trout were in a feeding frenzy late August. Had a great day of fishing, threw back so many but yet walked out with a meal for 4 for 4 days. The hike down the river from the water fall at the start of the "Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone" was not a bad hike, not too difficult. The fish would bite on anything, literally. I put an empty hook out and caught one. We tied some of the old Pop Tops from soda and beer cans on to a hook and got great action. I tried 3 or 4 lures and all got great action.

My favorite fishing spot in U.S. is located 27 miles out from the northeast “corner” of Kaua’i straight out east of Hanalei Bay, known to Island Trollers as The Icebox, or The Corner.” It is where two major opposing currents collide. It is loaded with big Ahi, often accompanied by pods of porpoise, Marlin and schools of baitfish. A veritable cornucopia of the island seafoods; IF you have the means to get there and balls to be in the topmost part of The Ali Nui. Haha rip correct which flows southward down through, past all the islands T often 17 knots speed. Lose your engines out there and in ten hours you are swept past Kona out into the vast huge South Pacific. Had many a great life-day out there.

My favorite place for summer CATCHing is from Menemsha MA (on Martha's Vineyard) with captain Robin Robinson, on any one of the boat she captains. I was amazed to see her catch a black stripped seabass barehanded as it slowly swam almost on the surface just off the side of the boat on the open ocean! Loved it so much, I'm leaving my home state of Florida and moving to the nearby town/village? of Aquinnah permanently! Now I can fish either from her dock or out on the Atlantic in perfect weather. Every day there fishing and catching my dinner is going to be my new best day ever!

Favorite fishing spot for 35 years is "below Ben's house" as we always call it. It's on Twin Lakes near Bridgeport, CA. Awesome views of the Sawtooth range, a creek that flows in nearby and a great log to stand or sit on. Sometimes we even catch a fish or two. Most successful cast? Not there, but nearby. Pulled a 2.75 lb rainbow out. If I told you where, it wouldn't be my secret honey hole then would it?

Monterey Bay on the Central California Coast is my favorite fishing spot. During my enlisted days, we went on a platoon fishing trip. Half of the platoon had never been on an open sea boat so they were not fairing well, especially when I brought out the tuna sandwiches I had Cookie mix up for us.
We had three hooks per line and by the time the sinker took the line to the bottom and we would reel in three fish on the line. The boat's captain took us to several spots with the same results, different fish. The half fishing met the quota for everyone way early so we headed back to shore early.
Since we lived in the barracks there was no way to store the fish. We brought back some for the cooks to do with as they would and I had a dozen or so 2-4 pounders when fileted, of blue cod, red snapper, and sea and rock bass that I took to my pastor for the food program they had at the church.

I fish many places but one of my best is the Lake Kissimmee chain in Central FLorida where the bass are plentiful and get very large. Central Florida is known as "The Bass Capital of The World".

With lots of submerged and above water grasses, Flipping and Pitching are popular ways to catch fish in the shallows (2' to 3') as the bass tuck themselves into the grass to ambush baitfish.
My best catch was during a tournament whereas I got on a spinnerbait pattern and was fishing along the river bank as it led to the mouth into lake Kissimmee. I was like in the mental zone and could almost visually (in my mind) see the fish turning to attack my bait, and as I did, an actual bass would hit my lure!
This went on for several hours and I was able to catch my limit of 5 fish and cull several fish before weigh-in. I won that tournament, and to this day recall being in that uncanny "mental zone" I was in...I look forward to having another day like that.

I love fishing at Port Canaveral in the Space Coast of Florida. Great fish in the area that the ships dock. It's the channel that the ships come in from the ocean and if I wanted to fish in the ocean I only have to go about 1000 feet or so and I will be in the ocean. This is a picture of my 19in 7lb sail catfish that I caught in that channel.

My favorite spot is near Ocala, Florida in a little town called Salt Springs. About 10 miles north is a Marine Corps of Engineers water dam called Rodman Dam which holds back Rodman Reservoir. On the bottom side of the dam all the catfish gather there in the spring trying to spawn farther up the river. They get stopped by the structure, so they collect there. One blue moon (literally) I filled two coolers with catfish. On that day, one cast brought in a 13 pounder. Caught it on the little shad caught with a cast net over by the boat ramp. The catfish follow these bait fish up the river to the dam.... Now I live in Oregon a whole new type of fishing here. And that is also the reason i am willing to give that favorite fishing spot away. I do not live there any more. (-;

Chickamauga, TN; Check out Rip Rap Adventures, they not only have a great guide service but he helped a veteran in distress. We are from KY and lost a wheel bearing during the launch at the high school championships. He, Billy Wheat, told me to get the boys in the water to fish and he would take care of the trailer. We came in for weigh-in and trailer was fixed, we paid for the parts and tried to pay for the time and labor but declined to take it. Pretty much anywhere there's a shore! But my favorite places to go are Lake Guntersville and Goose Pond in Scottsborough in Alabama. Caught my biggest Big Mouth at the Browns Creek docks close to 6lbs! Caught my 1st ever Big Mouth under the bridge in Guntersville about 4 years ago while Crappie fishing - thought I got hung on a rock (typical fishing habbit! lol) and then all of a sudden the rock started pulling on my line, reeled in a 4lb Bass on a black and white tuxedo Crappie jig on 4lb mono! Soooo Exciting!!!! This "Girl" loves to fish!

I have several places I go to fish but my Favorite is on Long Lake, WI. My family has had a cabin on this lake for 3 generations! Best walleye fishing on this huge 3,500 acre lake is shhhh right in front of our place. I had ordered a new boat last year but 3 days later diagnosed with breast cancer, I had to cancel. It's been a tough year but I am in remission and for that I went back and got the boat I wanted.

Yes it is an easy question! The mighty Mississippi River gets my attention most of the summer months. I chase those "brown" fish (smallmouth) in the peace and quiet of the upper reaches of the river. However other areas I have visited range from Canada to Southeast states in the good old USA.

We have a great spot here in South Tampa. The Fishers Island Park pier / boat ramp. Allegedly there are sheepshead and snook nearby, but we mostly fish for catfish and take home plenty. Unfortunately we are experiencing the dreaded red tide at the moment, so it's all catch and release, but we have made many a fish fry out of out catch from this spot.

My newly found favorite fishing "hole" is the pier out at the Lazy U Ranch in Seguin, TX. The Birdwell Foundation for PTSD utilizes this ranch from time to time for events and group functions. It is right along the Guadalupe River on "Lake Placid". Peaceful, serene, beautiful surroundings. I always leave refreshed, decompressed, and ready to tackle my next project!

Patriots Cove on Beaver Run in Noxen PA. I had never been fly fishing, but these guys paid for my trip up and hooked me up with a guide. Biggest fish for me was a 15 inch rainbow, but I have the record for smallest fish caught with a 2 inch smutty nosed dace (not sure if that is how you spell it and my record is currently under dispute). Great place to go fishing, they fly disabled vets up for free.

You can catch just about any sunfish variety, (bluegill, greens, pumpkinseed, red breast, largemouth etc.) anywhere along the shoreline where you can access, or out in the lake from a kayak or small boat, no gas motors allowed.

Fort Belvoir, Va. recreation area on the occoquan reservoir . It has or at least had a lot of places with easy access to the water and a couple of piers with just about any kind of fishing you wanted, Large mouth bass, striped bass , catfish and more. It was always clean, secure and quite. It started with a few guys from my platoon just hanging out telling lies about fish we had caught and the girls we hadn’t often while untangling a bird’s nest or trying not get hung up and lose our bait. Over time we were fewer and fewer and eventually most of the other guys were gone or had moved on. Then I met a girl that enjoyed fishing and spending time quietly waiting for that fishing pole to bend . She stuck and around and over time those trips were spent with her and our two beautiful children.
We would pack enough food, drinks and snacks and a couple of changes of clothes for the kids and go picnic, play and fish all day and often all night.
There was one summer weekend around 15 years ago that we had some great luck, I got to watch both my son and daughter hook up on several good size catfish over just a couple of hours. A couple of the fish were nearly as long as my kids were tall. I think the largest was a little less than 20lbs. On our drive home I realized that I had not set a hook on or reeled in a single fish out of the 15 plus caught that night.
All these years later that trip is still by far my favorite fishing trip of my life. We relocated around 10 years ago and haven’t been back.

I was stationed in Panama for 2 years before the base was closed. We did not call it fishing, we called it catching. As a fisherman, it was the best 2 years ever. I fished both sides of the country and all the way through canal. Loved it.

The reason I like it isn't because the fishing is great. It's good but not great. I like it because it is peaceful, beautiful and in 23 years I've never seen another soul their besides me and mine. You have to hike in about 2.5 miles from the nearest road and there isn't a trail. So I'm not telling. Yes I'm selfish. No, I don't feel guilty about it. There are 1000's of places like it if you are willing to hike in over trail-less wilderness.

Mc Tucker ponds in south east Idaho use a gold or a silver treble hook spinner and cast out about 20ft and start reeling in at a not fast but not slow pace and you will hook bull trout all day long and there are some really good size ones in there too.

My favorite fishing spot is along Big Horse Creek at Tuckerdale Baptist Church in the North Carolina Mountains . This is a great fishing spot, in the bend of a mountain stream with good holes for trout along most of the bank. In addition, the site is extremely peaceful, and warrants a stop even if only to enjoy lunch on the tailgate so as not to infringe on others who may be fishing there. No matter the situation, except when church activities are taking place, I always make the time to stop at this spot because of the peace and beauty of the experience. One of my best casts ever took place here as well. On my first cast towards the mouth of a 60" pipe across the stream, I hooked a 16" Rainbow on a No. 1 Mepp's Silverbo spinner.

I always loved to fish from the deck of the ship I was deployed on, and I did accumulate 14 years of sea duty in my 23 years in the navy. . The old man would bring the ship to a crawl, hundreds of miles at sea, and announce fish call. Grab a rod from the special services locker and catch a fish... bring all fish to the Mess decks for the cooks to prepare a fish chow call! The skipper might even pass a swim call too! Both were always good for moral, not to mention the good fresh fish we got to eat!

Kodiak, Alaska. Been going silver fishing there every year but 1 since 1977. Best secret spot? The American River, just downstream about 150 yards from the highway bridge. There's a little deep eddy just past where another creek flows in. If you're patient and drop your lure in just right, you'll get a silver. However, keep your eye out for bears.

My favorite fishing spot is Camp Robinson, AR. You can fish from the shoreline or by kayak/boat. The chain of four lakes guarantees you a day of "catching" and as an added bonus it has a relatively low amount of fellow fishermen, so no fighting for a spot. Bass, crappie, brim and catfish abound.
My best day here was in April when I caught 8 bass (1-1.5 lbs) in 30 minutes. I even pulled an almost 3lb'er using a Bass Pro trophy soft bait.

I am fond of any pure, clean, isolated mountain stream. The higher, the better. It does not even have to be productive; just being there, slowly working upstream, climbing over rocks and logs, bashing through brush, loving the scene, the air, a refreshing bath, and yes, the anticipation of catches, are huge rewards. It's definitely not a social occasion. There is only room for one at any spot. Even going out to recover snagged lures is a pleasure. Catching nice trout is icing on the cake. One of my faves is Bear Creek, a small jewel descending from among several 12-and-13,000-foot spectacular Sierra Nevadas peaks, paralleling the John Muir/Pacific Crest Trail for a while, before joining the South Fork San Jouquin River.

It used to be Lake Davis in California on Beckworth pass. We would regularly catch limits of 2-5lb Trout till some joker put Northern Pike in the lake and destroyed the fishing. Shocking and poisoning the lake killed the Pike which had to be done to keep them out of the Sacramento drainage but the lake never returned to it's former glory.

My favorite fishing spot is on the Upper Rogue River at a place called River Bridge Campground. My wife and I go camping there every summer, one morning while my wife was getting breakfast ready I walked down to the river just to check out the fishing, I came back about 15 minutes later and my wife said, "The fish not biting" I responded, "Oh, there biting, I just caught my limit" so the rest of the day was catch and release.

This post is my second favorite fishing spot. It is San Diego's Lake Otay Reservoir. My first cast of the day with a Baglys Injured Minnow and 2 pulls of the rod tip enticed this beautiful 7 pounder to strike. After a full day of fishing she was the only fish I caught.

In reality, I have a half-acre pond 'out back' that I LOVE fishing at. They're always biting! I can pull out a 6 lb catfish, huge bluegills...any number of 18" large mouth bass. Can't beat it.

Pineda Causeway in Melbourne Florida. We used cast nets when the mullet were running filleted them on the truck tailgate. One day we brought in 120 in a couple of hours and we and filleted them and threw the rest out in the median of the causeway when a tall black man stopped and asked if we were throwing the leftovers out. We told him yes and he politely asked if he could have them...we told him yes and then asked what he wanted with them. He laughed and said he was born in Wisconsin and never saw a mullet till he was stationed at Patrick AFB in Cocoa Beach were his friends told him that they had gizzards and we laughed thinking he was making a joke. I was born and raised in Florida and have caught far too many mullet to count and never knew they had gizzards. I was so happy that Airman stopped by and told us where the gizzards were located and gave us two dozen to take take home and fry up. Man that was the best gizzards I've ever eaten. Even my uncle who taught me to cast net for them never knew they had gizzards either... he says he was to busy catching and selling alligator meat but he now eats mullet gizzards all the time.
The man that stopped and told us about it was about 6'4" tall and did not look military in street dress, the year was 1979 a year after I joined the Army, I think he said his name was Ron or Ronny anyway if it is you reading this I want to say thank you and I would be glad to take you gator hunting in our airboat like you said you wanted to do but must have lost our phone numbers.

Pyrimid Lake. Nevada. Catching Lahontan cutthroat now over 25#. On a reservation so not developed and built up. Gets busy in the summer but fishing is only open from october to june.
Pick a cold windy day and have the beach to yourself.

If you are in northern Arizona outside of the town of Winslow is a place called Clear Creek, its several miles of navigable waterway is filled with great fishing spots, petroglyphs and steep canyon walls. The trout are the best and the carp a blast to catch. The catfish in areas are good size up near the boat ramps kids catch and release bluegill and sun perch.

My favorite place to fish of all time was the fantail of my 1st ship. Our Filipino borne cooks "todays culinary specialist" when we anchored out would sometimes fish for fun. Some catches we very interesting.

But my dad and I before I joined the Navy fished in a lake near Snowden, Alabama. Up at 4:30 am. fished most of the morning. I miss those times!

My favorite is Chalk Pond, Beddington, Maine when our Legion Post and the Local Scouts sponsor an Ice Fishing Derby during Feb. school vacation for kids and families who have never ice fished. We provide the holes, traps, bait, etc plus a bonfire, hot dogs, and hot chocolate. With a couple of snowsleds, we also give the kids rides around the pond. There's lots of action with pickerel, perch and trout so we make sure every kids gets to pull in a fish. The look on their faces hauling up a 24" pickerel with a bunch of teeth is worth a million. When the late Warden and Vietnam hero Phil White was alive, he sometimes could get the State Warden plane to land on the ice for the kids. Phil and his brother Jimmy were the big instigators of this really popular winter event for kids and their families.

I love to fish for big mouth bass, catch and release, in the 100-acre lake that my home a joins. This one is a 5 lbs. Always remember:

I no longer kill anything that is alive exceptvan insect on occasion. All lifecis so prescious in any form including plants. Killing a fish that. Is a perfect creation is a crime. For survival and treated as respectful. For its life for my life. Like the indians lived. Simply life and the challenge to survive. Respect for life. Leava loction better than when arrived.. Lies not a concept. Property ownership not possible to own what was here before me or here after me. Change by cutting down or killing unthinkable. Cannot change that which is already perfect. Destruction of mother earth is not even a concept. Evil within small tribe or unit was met with immediate deparcher from this life because you are inhuman but an evil force unexplainable. The perfect human in harmony with this mysterious and over in a blink of an eye. Any thankful for everything automatically. Its right and perfect.

Manistee River, Michigan Salmon and steelhead in the fall, Brown trout and steelhead in the spring. My son and I fish spinners and flies and a few other lures from our boat on the big Manistee River.

I have yet to fish here in Texas, but in Oregon where I am from, I love to fish in a few lakes. Henry Hagg Lake is a favorite. there are also a few Neighborhood ponds I fish up there also. While I have yet to catch a fish I love fishing.

My home state of Wisconsin, a small 5 acre natural freshwater pond lush with bass, bluegill, perch, and more. Last time there, caught a couple 18" small mouth and some bluegill and perch. Nothing like sitting on the shore, german shepherd nearby watching, birds, wind in the trees.. .and a line in the water.. No cars, people, manmade sound... Nature and peace.
