I once participated in a strategic computer simulation. One of the captains in our team was tasked to design an insignia for the fictional 43rd division we represented. He assigned them the motto: "Toujours Fromage".

I really liked our ship's motto from the USS John F. Kennedy CV-67, "Date Nolite Rogare, which means Give, be unwilling to ask." In reference to his famous speech.

I've always been a fan of a couple that come from our bad-ass brethren in the SEALs. "The only easy day was yesterday" and "W.G.M.A.T.A.T.S. - We Get More Ass Than A Toilet Seat".

I don't know if you'd call it a motto, but I once had a 1SG who had a Bulldog mural painted in the company office (we were the "Bulldog" B Co.), and written below this Bulldog were the words "Cut your damn hair".

Aim High was the Air Force thing for many years. Before that was Our Mission is to Fly and Fight.
The first just begged to be posted above every urnal in the Air Force. The second was readily changed to Fly and Wright recognizing that USAF was very good at staff work and winning the budget wars in the Pentagon.

At the beginning of the resident course for Combined Arms & Services Staff School (CAS3) (back in 1989) our instructor told our group that we needed a group cheer. You know something like, "First platoon's the best platoon". Well, you can imagine this did not go over well with a group of Majors and senior Captain, specially Majors and Captains from year group 79, 80, 81, 82, who happen to have a collective sarcastic and cynical view of things, it's just the nature of the beast. We though it was silly. So, in protest, we came up with our anti-slogan slogan, "SAVE THE WHALES". (Saving the whales was a big deal at the time.) After having chosen our cheer, we stood in a classroom and give our cheer prior to being seated, in accordance with military tradition. The classroom instructor just ignored us and began teaching. After class, our small group instructor kindly chided us for being unprofessional and asked us to come up with something more becoming of a group of professional field grade officers.

I joined the Army when the, "Be all that you can be." slogan was used. We enlisted grunts changed it to, "Clean all that you can clean."

When I was attending the Combined Arms and Services Staff School at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, our group instructor told us we had to come up with a motto. Being senior captains and majors, we all groaned at what we collectively thought of as false bravado and inappropriate for such a course. So, we basically came up with the anti-cheer, "SAVE THE WHALES". It didn't go over very well. Our group instructor told us to come up with another one which was more appropriate, more army, more befitting of officers of our stature.
