Utah/Arizona, the Vermilion Cliffs/Grand Staircase Escalante area. WAY off the beaten path in the empty country north of the Grand Canyon. Grand scenery on BLM and Forest Service land so you can camp about anywhere you want to pull over. However, be careful, you are so far out in some of those places a wrecker bill can run two grand or more. And it's hot in the summer, spring and fall are far better.

Williamsburg, Va IF you are into history this is the place to be colonial history, punctuated with the revolutionary war in real terms and the civil war. This place brings to life our history books, you get a real sense of how real it was. Jamestown just down the road is where the first commercial settlement was made, and Yorktown is where Washington won the war. Great golf, food and parks with Busch Gardens down the road for the kids (and the rest of us).

We took a road trip across Virginia visiting Presidential homes. It was over Veteran's Day and I was granted free admission by each location and treated like royalty. Great tribute to our country!

When we were stationed in Germany, we pegged Interlaken as our #1 vacation spot. In the same day we whitewater rafted in 80F+ degree weather, we also went up to Jungfrau to walk through an ice tunnel, throw snowballs and watch folks on dogsleds. It's been a long time since my family went on vacation but Beaches resorts are all inclusive and have a wide variety of activities for adults, children, and everyone to do together as well. They offer daycare and breakfast with cookie monster!! All while experiencing Jamaica and its finest views. We had access to the surrounding activities i.e zip lining, river walk, horseback riding. My babies are grown now but these memories will last a lifetime.

The most magical and amazing location for us would be Cartagena, Colombia. The water is so clear and beautiful, with black sand. Fresh ceviche and fresh fruit available right there on the beach. Your can order beautiful fresh fish meals that they will deliver right to you on the beach.

My favorite vacation spot is wherever my children are living/ stationed. With 1 civilian and 2 military kids, it's hard to get us all together. We do try to all do Christmas with my mother in PA and sometimes it works! My greatest joy and my children and grandchildren, so anywhere with them is heaven for me! So it may be PA, WI, KS, OK, LA, WA, Korea, Okinawa, AL, or NC, but home is where the heart is and they are all mine!

Death Valley National Park, We usually vacation there in March when the weather is reasonably warm. will camp at Furnace creek's Sunset camp grounds. Many great story's told of history of Death Valley at the visitor's Center, story's of Death Valley Scotty and Scotty's Castle , that was built in the desert . many areas to visit and walk into several canyons .
would recommend pulling up Death Valley National monument on the net where you will find many photo's of the park. guided tours are available.
also good for studying the stars, watching the space station passing by.

FL keys on a beach Live in Florida due to health not able to travel much, theme parks are just out of the question. I do love the beach, and the FL keys seems so laid back. Key West is ok but over touristy anymore. No fun. so love the other keys.

The island of O‘ahu in Hawaii. My family loved the North Shore where we visited the Dole Plantation for a Dole Whip. We also snorkeled in Hanauma Bay, visited the Polynesian Cultural Center and payed respects to our fallen heros at Pearl Harbor.

My favorite vacation area is at the beach at Ocean City in Maryland. I love the beach. I enjoy getting good exercise walking on the boardwalk and relaxing on the bench watching boats go by and watching people swimming in the water. My favorite food there is the Boardwalk Fries. They are the best!

Many years ago, more than I care to recall, friends asked me to join them on a golf trip. One of their foursome had dropped out and they needed someone who could get time off on short notice. They were taking a quick golf vacation to Hilton Head, South Carolina. When I say "quick" it is not an exaggeration. Coming from Michigan and going for a long weekend to Hilton Head for some golf has to be done quickly. We left on a Friday and were back Monday evening. I didn't see much of the island on that trip but I remembered the great golf and weather in early spring.
Years afterward, I had an opportunity to revisit Hilton Head and jumped at the chance. My wife and I were planning a trip to Florida and we got a call from Marriott Vacations offering us a free 3 day/4 night stay if we would sit through a sales presentation. We were adamant we would not purchase. We were just there for the added days to our vacation trip to Florida. So much for that. We did purchase and, over the years, wound up enjoying many wonderful trips to the island. The golf is great, the resort was fantastic - right on the ocean with a great beach, restaurants are many and the food is great. The island is quite unique and has a very rich history with cities like Savannah and Beaufort being only a short drive away.
30 years later and now divorced, I still vacation on Hilton Head and, with or without friends going with me, I still enjoy the golf courses and playing the game and meeting new people. Yes, "friendly places and smiling faces" surely fits South Carolina and especially Hilton Head.
While there, I make it a point to visit Parris Island and play The Legends of PI Golf Course also, about a 45 minute drive from Hilton Head and one of the finest military courses in the country. It also gives me a chance to absorb some of the Marine training I went through as I can hear the sounds while playing my round. Afterward I try to watch, from a safe distance, young men training to be Marines and, visiting the MPX, I will engage Marines in conversation when possible. The DI's still intimidate me a little. It takes me back to my service years in the Corps and makes me think I should have made a career of it. However, there are no do-overs in life.
My grandson is now in his 3rd week of Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island and our family is planning yet another vacation on Hilton Head to be there for his graduation and help him celebrate becoming a Marine. It will be a proud day for us all and just another reason for Hilton Head being my favorite place to vacation. Semper Fi!

The east coast running from Virginia all the way down to Florida and any where in the remote parts of the south in the small out of the towns. Florida in the northern panhandle is a small town area called Defuniak springs and it has fresh water springs where you can scuba dive and even cave dive for advanced divers and there are a lot really cool fish that live in the spring and there are tons of places to see and visit where there are practically no crowds to deal with.

We love vacationing during Christmas, and Branson, MO is our destination of choice. Our first ever Christmas vacation there , we went to the Andy Williams Blue Moon Theatre. My wife was not too keen on going but after the show was over, she could not believe how good it was. I remember it reminded me of being young and watching his shows on television, it was incredible. To go along with that is the light show that put on at Silver Dollar City right up the road. The smells, the lights, it doesn't get much better at Christmas time to me.

Driving the coast from Carmel to San Francisco! Taking the time to visit the wineries nestled in between Gilroy and Freedom. Staying at the Mount Madonna Inn with it's "themed" rooms. Heading north to the Shadow Brook Inn restaurant on the way to the Santa Cruz beach and boardwalk... The the trip gets quieter with very few people around to enjoy the vistas and enclaves... The ocean views are simply spectacular! During the holidays you can visit the Limos Farm which is awesome in Half Moon Bay...CHECK IT OUT! The final destination is San Francisco, where you can simply be a tourist or shop till you drop-down town.. Aww what sweet (and [extra] sour dough) memories! Haven't gone on a vacation since 1999.... Just can't afford such a luxury.. but I sure can dream about it....

My favorite place for R&R is my property in NW Michigan. It is a wooded property in which i am home steading. We have our campers there and bring our toys for off-road fun. I've build a huge tree fort with a zip line for my boys. when i go there the rest of the world melts away. It is truly an escape from reality.

I love going to the Poconos, Jim Thorpe area. Lots of outdoor activities and really chill. We stay at a guesthouse right on the canal. We have been going for the past seven years and bring all our family with us to stay. It is very reasonable and fun! Our hosts have become close friends.

I haven't had a real vacation since 1966. Our family spent two weeks in Eustis Florida at my aunt and Uncle's home, with them and their five kids.
I used my vacation time up a day or two at a time, or was paid for not being able to take time off from work. One of my favorite places was my grandparents farm, in Mennifee county Kentucky. It was miles off a paved road, peaceful, quiet and good water. there were several acres of old apple trees that were purchased as saplings from one of Johnny Appleseed's nurseries. by my grandfather's grandfather. They were fairly self sufficient on the farm. They had a small Tobbaco base for a cash crop, but like many in the area, they made Sorgum. as another cash crop.
It was relaxing, and a place to unwind as a kid.
It was so far up in the mountains that there was no local TV and only a couple weak radio stations. How you miss a place like that, after it's gone.

I feel the Outer Banks in N.C., esp. Duck, N.C.. We rented a house there with both of my adult children and granddaughters...it was the best week ever. No boardwalk but mins. from shopping and activities. I recommend Duck to everybody...so relaxing.

Banff, Canada is my favorite vacation spot. I like in the Rockies, and I find Banff to be pretty amazing. From Banff to Lake Louise, the glaciers, float trips, fishing and hiking, it is all amazing. Just being your mosquito netting and long sleeves for the hikes! The mosquitoes are as large as a biplane!

The Banff Springs Hotel is amazing and quite luxurious.

Great Ocean Road, Australia. I went there a long time ago and I liked it there. The road traverses rainforests, as well as the famous London Arch and The Twelve Apostles. I would suggest going there during their spring, around our fall session.

I enjoy renting a cabin over the water at Poverty Point Reservoir in Northern Louisiana. Great fishing from the deck and an even better view in the evening. Great for bird watching as well. Check it out! You'll love it!.....and take your boat, you can dock it at your cabin!

My New Favorite Place for Vacation in the US is currently Sedona, AZ, specifically because of relaxing places like this: The locals call it "The Subway". A beautiful, peaceful, quiet place off of the Boynton Canyon Trail. I hiked to this location one early morning in May 2021 and had the whole place to myself. It was definitely Majestic and Relaxing once I got there!

Having grown up (ages 6-13) working in Texas cotton fields, my ideal vacation would be not having to worry about "staying put" where I am, in Houston, just to keep my credit union account from dipping into negative side.

That done, I'd like to see more of my country--ys, even Alaska looks inviting to someone who has known mostly torrid temps in 3/4 of century--than airport view & tree lined roads...sights seen during 79 days served. I could die content in knowledge I've seen as much as I could of the country I would have dedicated my life & career to.

Recently, in July 2019 before the lockdown I took a much needed vacation, driving thru several Canadian cities and back into the USA visiting all the New England states that I haven't been to before. I got to see a lot of culture, history and beautiful pristine nature along the way and it's hard to pinpoint it all. If I had to narrow it down it would be a toss-up between Quebec City where I saw and experienced old French and Huron Confederacy (Native American) influence, the beautiful state of Maine where there are pristine unpolluted mountains, lakes, wildlife, etc. and the Boston/Lexington And Concord American Revolution historical region where I experienced a taste of what the USA was, how it began and what it stands for and what it can be again. And all those sights as well you need to experience the local cuisine to get the best of it. I had French cuisine, Huron escargot, New England clam 'chow-dah'. Driving in Boston itself is crazy but I got a lot from that and it's a lot of fun .

From this same trip on a second note I also visited the Native American museum and casino resorts in Connecticut, tucked away in the forests and hills,. And in Springfiels, Massachusetts I checked out the Dr. Seuss Children's museum and sculpure garden. It was a rtibute to my 'roots', those books made learning to read so much for me, and it detroyed 'Dick and Jane' books qhich I always loathed even in kindergarden. God Bless Dr. Seuss.

there's so many places in between all this I visited in 2019 and when the pandemic ends I intend on another vacation like this again to visit 'newer' places. In the meantime these sites and expoeriences are what I have to fall on and for now that's what's on my mind the most. Culture, history, travel, experience, foods, interactions with tthe local yocals, partying, it does a person good. It's good 4 U.

Monterey! The best time I had was there with my mother. It was the last trip we took together, and we had a wonderful time. Our hotel had a fireplace and a little nook that looked out over the water. We ate breakfast there and watched the waves roll in. Mom really loved the aquarium. An otter seemed to love showing off as he swam by, then popped up out of the water to the delight of those above. Honestly, it's the best vacation I've ever had.

I am a 13th generation immigrant from England, my 10th great-grandfather came to Boston in 1635 and my favorite thing to do is walk the dirt road in Concord, MA, where my 7th generation uncle marched carrying the flag and was shot through the eye and killed on the North Bridge during the battle of the same name. There are lots of historical sights in MA and one could easily spend a week exploring. If you're a history buff you will have a great time.

Cape Coral and Matlacha Florida. Cape Coral is a city off the Gulf of Mexico. We rented a house for a week that had a canal that connects to the Gulf. Got to fish and saw alligators and manatee in the canal. Matlacha is a small island that connects to Cape Coral via a bridge. It is a fishing town but has several unique shops and restaurants. Also has private boat tours based here. We took a sunset ride that was absolutely beautiful.

Northern California, mostly because of the endless outdoor opportunities provided such as the wild Pacific Coast, the coastal mountains with their Redwoods, the beautiful Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains, and many hot springs and waterfalls in-between. There's also the cities, and while Sacramento and San Francisco are crowded and crime is high, both offer lots of museums and cultural places to visit.

My favorite vacation spot is right here in New Hampshire, Lake Winnepesaukee. I love vegging on the lake watching the boats and jet skis go by, families connecting and having fun, creating positive experiences and memories for my kids, and of course some sunshine after a long winter. More importantly though, I love to see Americans sharing enjoyment in unison, it really makes me proud to be an American and eases the burden of the sacrifices I have seen made for this beautiful country.

Hawaii - the Big Island. There is so much to see above ground and yes below ground {lava tube}. You can experience 3 different climates in one day. Warm and humid, hot and dry, cold and you might even see snow. All in December.

A little over 50 years ago, the Army set me on R&R to Majorca. Not sure why, was not asked if I wanted to go or anything. It was just you git on the truck. I responded yes sir I'll get my gear. You won't need it. The next thing I know I'm on a beach. I had about $40.00 on me for 9 days. I exchanged $20.00 for a bag of money and had some left when we got back on the boat.

The Ozarks of Missouri. My favorite ideal vacation spot is Echo Bluffs Start Park Missour. I enjoy trout fishing and particularly the thrill of catching the ol Rock Bass aka Google Eye. I enjoy the early to mid Fall time of the year. It’s beautiful and almost enchanting down in those hollers and hills. The sound of local wildlife, flowing rivers and streams and aromas of hams smoke curing off in the distance somewhere. It’s all good medicine and very refreshing and the ultimate natural therapy for me.

I use to love the mountains, and I still do, but we took our RV to HO HUM in Carabelle and it has NOTHING even internet was bad at best we loved it. We pulled straight in right up to the water and it was if we were on a cruise ship but we were looking out the windshield

My favorite place for vacation was when my wife, kids and I went to London. I was in the army and stationed in Germany and my wife's best friends were stationed at Mildenhall Airbase. We flew over and had a blast seeing all of the historical sites England, Scotland and Wales had to offer as we went all over the countryside. But seeing the soldiers at Buckingham Palace was fantastic and getting the "Beefeater" Sergeant Major to hold my 2 year old daughter for a photo was priceless. Those were probably the best 3 weeks I've ever had while stations in Europe.

My favorite vacation thus far has been with my husband to New York. We went to NYC to sight see , met up some some of our Army friends, showed them around, and then we finished the trip with visiting our families. We both hadn't seen our families in over 10 years and not for happy moments. We met up with friends, we hadn't seen in years. The trip was absolutely perfect in every way besides us wishing for a little more time. We celebrated New Years in the 20/20 club. The trip was one for the books and we marked off a couple bucketlist wants.
