I am currently the treasurer for the Veterans Affairs Committee of Dawson County, GA. For the third year I will be delivering the Invocation at our Memorial Day Service at Veterans Park in Dawsonville. We normally have a guest speaker.
We replace all of the service flags and the American flags at the Veterans Memorial with the help of the JROTC cadets.

I will be saluting the flag at the parking lot of st. Ann's Episcopal Church, Old lyme as a continuation of Salutes across America on Monday the 29th from 1500-1515, and the memorial day program in Middletown, CT. on the 31st, i will be partiipating in a special service in the memorial garden of the above-mentioned church at 1500.

I will go to the Sandhills Veteran Cemetary outside Fort Bragg (Liberty), NC. I will be visiting all veterans who are laid to rest there. I will put a penny on their headstone to let them know they are not forgotten, they lay in peace, and thank you for our freedom because of their sacrifice. I want them to know that a battle buddy is still thinking about them and that they are never forgotten.

I served in Nha Trang in RVN. My wife's brother was in the Marines in RVN. Her family has Vets going back to the Revolution. So this is a solumn day for us and we will go to our local ceremony in Sunsat Beach, NC to honor all of our friends, relatives and all vets on Memorial Day.

Each year, I visit the Phoenix Memorial Cemetery and watch the services. I also go to the local Veteran Cemetery and visit my Father in Law's grave. He was a WWII Veteran. My wife and I clean the stone and marker. We place flags on his grave. I was in the PTSD Foundation and volunteered for them in the past.

I can’t do much to help others, I’m home bound. But my daughter bought a Purple Heart flag to hang on my flagpole under my American flag. I earned a Purple Heart in Vietnam & I’m hoping by flying it, I’ll inspire others to take a moment and remember why they have freedom. this Memorial Day, I have enormous plans to honor and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. First and foremost, I will actively participate in local memorial services, parades, and ceremonies organized in my community. It is essential to be present and contribute to these meaningful events that bring people together to remember and honor our fallen heroes.

In addition, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to visit a military cemetery, such as the renowned Arlington National Cemetery. As I walk among the gravesites, I will take time for quiet reflection, allowing the weight of their sacrifices to resonate within me. To express my gratitude and remembrance, I will place flowers and flags on their final resting places, symbolizing my enduring respect.

Every Memorial Day I go to 3 cemetaries. The first is to Honor the son of a friend who made the ultimate sacrifice. I run for awhile then go to his grave and have a moment with him. I leave a small flag that I ran with. Then I head to 2 other cemetaries where I did Funeral Honors while I was in the Reserves to pay my respects to them as well. Every year there are tears. I love seeing the hundreds of flags flying as I run.

Living in San Diego, there are so many choices.
I will be doing what "I" call my 'memorial ride'. I cycle from my home in San Diego, up Mt Soledad and spend a bit of time of there thinking of those who came before and see the plaques honoring them.
From there, I ride to Fort Rosecrans Memorial and Corillo Monument. Again there, spend a bit of time honoring my military compadres who came before. I would not have had the chance to do so but for them.

I visited Bataan in the Philippines this March. The museum there was filled with the past, photos of the Death March, names of the fallen, WWII memorabilia. It was a sobering visit. I was angry at first. I then thought of those who gave all, how the land has since recovered from such destruction. I am proud to have served. I will sit back and raise a beer to salute the fallen this Memorial Day, remember and reflect as I do on many days of each passing year. Let freedom ring!

Although my service was short, I have always held a special place in my heart, especially the time I served in Viet-Nam. Now 75, I still hold that place. When I see a veteran or active miliatry person, my heart beems with sunshine knowing we share a special place bond together. Truly brother's.
I often feel, what we did as soldiers, gives us a special place as Americans. It breaks my heart what I see happening to our country. Most of my friends, whether on the right or the left always talk about
patriotism, but they have never served and have never vounteered to do anythiong for our country. Whether the military, the Peace core or other opportunities. They simply feel entitled. it makes me sick. God bless you my fellow veteran. Dont stop beleiving in the American Dream. We will come to our senses soon and begin to live as Americans and not Democratas or Republicans. DEMOCRACY takes courage and integrity. Lets all be part of the American Party

To me, the best way to honor veterans is to find the ones who you know are stuggling with day to day, normal activities because of service connected disabilities and offer to befriend, just listen and offer support. Good friends really is very valuable, especially today as this great country we are willing to die for, is becoming more and more confusing because of upcoming elections, the American dollar and mass shootings generating real concerns. Be come a good friend to our most afficted veterans this year.

Those of us veterans at the Iowa Renaissance Festival set up a "Missing Man" table and, at 1 pm the entire festival shuts down so everyone can attend our annual honor the fallen ceremony on the jousting field. I’m the Veteran who has to spend time helping someone who was at stage five kidney failure, heart issues from Lupus Nephritis, and turn there life around to live. They were also pneumonia struck, and 2 Tks of fluid. Stayed with them a week in the hospital, changed their diet, cooking cleaning and caring for them free of charge. It’s hard,and sad seeing them suffer, with their muscle mass gone. But I’m hanging in their giving 24 hr care, providing physical therapy etc. I made my mind I will take them in my home at no cost, but my Memorial Day and summer will be spent, breathing life into them, shedding hope and light for another, as we all should do, when we see a need to assist when no one else will do. Not a Nurse nothing, but a retired Veteran, doing what’s needed. The sacrifice is well worth it. They at now at stage 3B, 7 percent protein in urine drop, and getting stronger. I’m exhausted, and there will be no vacation here, but a show of love and strength towards another, hoping if I’m ever in needed, I’ll be well blessed in return.

This is what I do every year: I share a few beers with my grandfather and others I've loved who served, then passed on. It started with my grandfather, long before I realized the significance of the day he died - Memorial day, when I was 5. He was the only person in my life at the time, who truly loved me. It wasn't until I became a veteran myself that I realized I'd lost my only protector that day, due to survivor's guilt... he'd come back from the Battle of the Bulge, but left much of his heart behind. He even apologized for it, a few weeks before he died, with our secret ritual that I now believe he used to cement certain things in long-term memory for me. He'd feed me a sip of his beer, then talk, then another sip to end it. He said that I would have a hard life, and he was sorry he wouldn't be there to protect me. He was right. But like him, I'm a survivor, and I celebrate those I've lost by remembering the best times we shared together by swigging cheap beer and toasting their memories

My wife and I plan to spend time with our children and grandchildren. This together time will give us and opportunity to talk about our nation, our government and the freedoms we take for granted. We are setting aside time to tell of when I served in the army and how it relates to our very existence as a nation. On of the topics we hope to discuss is how our parents and grandparents emigrated to the United States to seek a better life for themselves and their children. Tall order but that is our goal..

In years past, I have attended our local National Cemetery's Memorial Day service, during COVID, I visited our township cemetery and took some time to reflect (discovered that there was a War of 1812 veteran interred there), this year, I will take my father and wife to opening day at our Northwoods League Baseball Team opening day. I will celebrate those who make the ultimate sacrifice by being an American, doing what Americans do celebrating the freedoms that our those who died in service to our country fought for in our Nations defense.

I will attend Veteran funerals with the Patriot Guard Riders.
I will attend a "sendoff" of three WW II Veterans at Huntsville Airport. They are going to Normandy France for a trip of a lifetime.
I will attend my local Veteran's Museum for a Memorial Day celebration with military speakers and many local Veterans in Athens, AL. VVA, VFW, DAV and AMVETS groups will be together.
I will place US flags on local graves of Veterans, including my Father, a WW II Veteran.
I will place US flags in front of my neighborhood community building.
Most of all, I will remember my father and all Veterans who are not with us anymore.

I am part of the Veterans Club at Solivita. Solivita is a 55 and older community in Kissimmee Florida. I am part of the honor guard. We will do a parade and then a ceremony at Freedom Park in Solivita. We then change out of our uniforms and play a game of softball. At noon we have a BBQ. At five we have a concert until 8 PM. The Veterans Club here does a wonderful job of raising money that we use to help support various military and veteran programs. These include flag ceremonies when one of our members passes and parades through out the year.

I am going to stay home and reflect on the life with my husband. He passed last month from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease from the Viet Nam war.
To watch his decline with the dementia was terrible. To see him in pain and respiratory distress was torturous for him and for me.
I can’t believe he is gone.
I will be praying for everyone who served and their families, that they never develop such horrifying conditions.
I will be praying for Peace around the world.
God, please help us all.

A fun way we’re celebrating Memorial Day with kids while also teaching them the importance of honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we will be putting together a patriotic-themed scavenger hunt.
The scavenger hunt will be set up at our local park and will include clues that lead kids to different stations, each of which has a patriotic activity or challenge to complete. For example, one station will be a flag-making station, where children can create their own American flags using construction paper and markers. One area will be an egg (plastic) hunt with GI Joe figures hidden inside as the prize. Another station will be a trivia game about the history of Memorial Day and the sacrifices made by our military. At the end of the scavenger hunt, there can be a moment of silence to honor fallen soldiers.

I am a veteran and have a history of veterans in my family. I also have worked for the Dept. of Veteran Affairs for the past 23 years. I plan on going home (Ohio) and cleaning off all of their grave stones and markers. Plant some flowers and stick a flag in the dirt. Also the same for my family members who aren't veterans. Just reflect on my life and how the military made me the man i am today. Have a good meal and enjoy the great outdoors. Try to reach out to any homeless veterans i come across this weekend. i am so blessed and believe in paying my blessing forward.

I lost my husband to ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig disease) 2 years ago. He served in the Army Armory in Germany. Included in his funeral thank you cards:
Charlie Brown and Snoopy looking up at the evening stars and mentions:
"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky,
but rather openings where our loved ones
shine down to let us know they are happy."
He was laid down with our quintuplets at military Punchbowl Memorial on Oahu, Hawaii.
We bring extra flowers on the surrounding graves around them, especially, others
that have lost their babies, too. We miss them.

We are starting our Veterans Day by welcoming the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall to Myrtle Beach South Carolina. I am a Veteran as well as a Blue Star Mother. We support our sons and daughters currently serving as well as our Veterans. Friday we will have The Memorial Day opening ceremony and wreath laying at the wall. We will be walking in the Military Appreciation Days Parade this Saturday. There is so much more going on and I am so proud of these soldiers sacrifice to this beautiful country. I do this every year, after laying crosses and flags at my local cemetary Hills Ferry, Newman CA, I will go to the National Cemetary in Santa Nella CA and place silk poppies, on the graves of our fallen there. I can't make the trip to GA to visit my Father and Uncles' graves, so I pick a plot of graves at the National Cemetary and place the silk poppies there, I pause and thank each soldier for their service and ask that they look up my Father and Uncle in Heaven and let them know I love them, miss them and am thinking about them. It sad that I can't make the trip to GA but going to the cemetaries locally and placing the crosses, flags and silk flowers make me feel closer to my brothers and sisters who gave everything, My Father and Uncle were both Army, and they are the reason I joined the Air Force to continue the legacy. Its not much, but some of these graves never get a visitor and by placing a single flower and praying I hope they know I remember them.

My Dad, who will be 92 in June, is a Korean War veteran. On Memorial Day, my Dad has had a tradition of making his 'special' fried chicken for his family, and he plans to do this again this year! He is a very special man and a Veteran who has always cared for his country.

In honor and respect on this Memorial Day, I will be emceeing "The 25th Annual Tribute to Veterans and Military Families" on May 27th hosted by Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger. On Memorial Day I will have the honor of helping to place the Screen Actors Guild/AFTRA Wreath during the the Los Angeles National Cemetery Ceremony. Then head to American Legion Hollywood Post 43 to read the ‘Missing Man Table’ at the Legion’s Ceremony and to continue the days observance.

My dad and I go to the veterans memorial plaza in Latrobe where i had his name engraved on the Vietnam war wall and we pay our respects there as well as visit the local cemeteries thanking veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

I served during the Vietnam War and my fiancee then is a MIA. I am going to the ceremonies in my city and the grave site so I can be with my fallen brothers and sisters. I will pray for them and all the military and of course to my everlasting love.

I assisted my wife in researching her relative who was in the Ghost Army of WWII. His daughter did not know of Wesley's service until my wife forwarded Ruth the information of her dad's service! It is an honor to have found this historical and honorable family history.

I assisted my wife in researching her relative who was in the Ghost Army of WWII. His daughter was not aware of her dad’s service until my wife emailed her our research. I was honored and proud of this father’s amazing contribution to our freedom.

I assisted my wife in researching the service history of her family. We found that Wesley was in the WWII Ghost Army. His daughter had no idea of her father's Ghost Army history until my wife emailed Ruth of our findings. Her father died less than 6 weeks after her birth.

Continue to help connect fellow vets with whole health methods to deal with chronic pain/ PTSD such as hiking events. Art, music therapy etc.instead of the typical my method from docs- " here, take another prescription medicine for 90 days and tell me how you feel."

Fly our American and P O W flags and place flowers on my dad’s and family members graves. Then have a memorial cookout in which we reminisce about our fallen military family members.

I sit on the Avenue of Flags Committee for Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. I help plan Memorial Day Ceremonies and others throughout the year. I am usually doing something and this year I am escorting Gold Star Mom in the wreath laying. I got a Gunny SGT from the 23rd Marine Regiment to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and also give a talk. A few hours later I had some of my fellow Veterans perform a firing detail for an Army Veteran who passed away. Just another rewarding day in my schedule.

A high school mate who became a high school english teacher over a period of years gave her students an assignment to do a first person interview with a veteran (family, neighbor or any other veteran. After many years she published two books with all these stories broken down by wars. She inspired me to ask school clubs to clean the headstones of the veterans in the many cemeteries in the valley. I always get plenty of students to do this. I take a car full but most of them provide their own transportation.
