I am regimental affliated with 321st Field Artillery Regiment. Will doing research for the 321st Regt Room at Fort Sill I was give this pin worn during WW II.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member, I also served in the 95th Division (TNG). They became famous as the 95th ID in WWII and are known as the "Iron Men of Metz". This special designation was allowed because the name was given to them by the failed German defenders of the ancient, but heavily fortified French bastion of Metz during the fierce and relentless battle the 95th waged to capture the ancient city.

The winged spur is emblematic of cavalry and speed. The blue ribbon alludes to service with the American Expeditionary Forces. The 17th Cavalry Regiment was first constituted on 1 July 1916, making the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, the oldest unit in the 82nd Aviation Brigade.

Crest: The regiments and separate battalions of the Georgia and Louisiana National -2-108th Squadron in Louisiana: A pelican in her piety affronte with three young in its nest on a wreath of the colors ], argent armed and vulned proper.

Shield: Consists of a Shield composed of a yellow a gules (for the Cavalry), red saltire (denoting Confederate Service), a three color (red, yellow, blue) rainbow at the honour point (for service with the 42nd Infantry Division during World War II), a prickly pear cactus at the charge (for Mexican border service), and an Indian's Head in profile with one feather in a top-knot (for Indian Wars).

The 120th Infantry Regiment's distinctive unit insignia, approved on 28 June 1928, consists of a gold metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned azure, in pale a prickly pear cactus and the entrance to the canal tunnel over the St. Quentin Canal. Attached below the shield is a blue scroll inscribed VIRTUS INCENDIT VIRES ("Virtue Kindles Strength") in gold.

The shield is blue for infantry. The cactus represents service on the Mexican border as the 3rd Infantry, North Carolina National Guard. The tunnel symbolizes the mouth of the tunnel in the Hindenburg Line at Bellicourt, France, captured by the 120th Infantry on 29 September 1918.

The 45th Infantry Brigade. One of the few insignia that is authorized a reverse image version (the Indian always faces forward). The blue field represents the infantry, and the Indian with war bonnet is the Oklahoma crest. The motto is "Semper Anticus"-Always Forward.

Based of the Vietnam Security Police Squadron, I think at at Tan Son Nu. If you like history or reading about battles the Battle of Tan Son Nu during Tet 68 is good.

What's your unit insignia or crest look like and what does it mean? I was in the 97th Signal Battalion "Tried and True". The insignia depicted a sable shield with bolt of lightning, bunch of grapes, and fleur-de-lis. The gold fleur-de-lis represents the unit’s activities in France. The combination of black, red, and gold alludes to the national colors of Germany and also represents Belgium. Black and gold allude to the German state of Baden-Württemberg; red and white to the state of Hessen; and black, gold, and red to the state of Rhineland-Pfalz. The two white stars are symbolic of the two campaign participation credits earned by the battalion-Rhine-land and Central Europe-as well as the battalion’s activities in Europe and the Far East. The two white fusils are symbolic of radio waves (impulses).

The 97th Signal Battalion was housed at Coleman Barracks in Sandhofen, Germany north of Mannheim just next to the Autobaun. We handled communications traffic for both "CENTAG" (Central Army Group-Europe) and the US Army.

40th Infantry Div (Mech)-The semi-sunburst was suggested as the unit's shoulder sleeve insignia, and represents the division's home of Southern California. The demi fleur-de-lis symbolizes service in France during World War I. The outer rim of the sun rays refers to the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation award. The red arrowhead alludes to firepower of the division and represents their assault landing at Luzon in World War II. The Torri gate, a symbol of the Far East, refers to the award of the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.

The Thunderbolt is for the surprise and shock action of "Winged Assault". The blue is for the infantry carries and the sky from which the assault will come. The Bayonet is the emblem for Fort Benning where the battalion was activated as part of the 11th Aviation Group of the 11th Air Assault Division. The orange is the color of Army Aviation and it supports the winged spear also symbolic of "Winged Assault".
This is the crest for the old 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion. The new one is at Fort Hood, I think. I've got a big poster with the new crest on it

I've worn a few more, but these are the two that are most important to me. The first is the 194th Armor Regiment, the unit I deployed with. The 194th was part of the Bataan death march, a heritage they honor annually in Brainerd, MN.

Symbolism:
Yellow and green are colors traditionally associated with Armor. The sea lion, from the coat of arms of Manila, symbolizes World War II service in the Philippines. The representation of the Coliseum is emblematic of participation of some of the elements of the Regiment in Italy during World War II.

The second is the one I wear now that I've completed my interstate transfer and branch transfer to Infantry.

Symbolism
The shield is blue for Infantry. The wavy bend, representing the Arkansas River, refers to the geographic location of the regiment. The cactus symbolizes service on the Mexican border and the fleur-de-lis service in France during World War I. The Great Bear's face from the shoulder sleeve insignia of the Alaskan Department symbolizes service in that area in World War II.

Both units have quite a bit of history behind them. The 153rd can trace it's roots back all the way to the civil war.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member, here's one that you won't find in The Institute of Heraldry archives! When the 15th Psychological Operations Battalion (POB) went to support the VII US Corps for WINTEX '83 (MAR83), a German major was there to help us get familiarized with German "defensive" psyop. He was with the 850th Psychological Defense Battalion, Deutches Heer, and this is their insignia, along with the DUI of the 15th POB.

Polar Bear Crest belongs to the 4th Bn. 31st Infantry Regiment. Pro Patria (For Country) Unit Motto. The last unit I served with.
Supporting Victory is the Branch Crest for the Quartermaster Corps, US Army. Supporting Victory is our motto. My last Branch crest
10th Mountain Division Patch is for the last division I served with on active duty. Climb to Glory was the Division Motto.

Very proud of the history of all three of these units/branches.

5th Bn 52 Air Defense Artillery was the first unit crest I wore and it read Semper Paratus (Always Ready)
24th Infantry Division Patch Fort Stewart Georgia (1979-1980) 1st division I ever served with on active duty.

450th Movement Control Battalion - Brick red and gold are the colors of the Transportation Corps. The wheel alludes to the Transportation Corps and represents the battalion's mission. The broad Arrow represents movement, swiftness, and accuracy, and represents forward progress. The battalion's motto, "Strength Through Movement," is displayed across the bottom. It represents the battalion's mission in supporting the fight with transportation
