What schools are good choices for EMT courses? Are there any online courses that I should look into that would be just as helpful?

What schools are good choices for EMT courses? I'm thinking about going into firefighting after the military and im trying to take some coures now before I ETS in 1 1/2 years. Are there any online courses that I should look into that would be just as helpful? Thanks

I wouldn’t do online. You don’t get the full preparation for the clinicals from online

EMT is one of this programs which requires hands on testing. If it is online I would not take it. All other academics are fine on line. Pushing IVs and using IEDs, applying bandages etc. requires eyes on. thank you for your service.

You might be able to get the information learned for the written portion of the test online, but you will still have to take the hands-on practicals and that requires hands-on learning and practice - both for EMT and Firefighter 1, etc.

I'm assuming you're considering full-time EMT/Firefighter, correct?

As a Medic and Medic instructor, look in to your local Community Colleges they almost always have EMT training. Online is not a good option if you have no experience in the field. Also you CC will likely have Fire Science class s that are often required to get into fire academy (in at lest major cities). When you leave active duty, you can also think about joining the NG in the state you are going to and have them cross train you as a 68W.
