What services can you think of to provide active duty, veterans and their families in customized VR virtual worlds?

Kids4Horses d/b/a Sponsor a Vet Life (SAVL) wants the people we serve (veterans, active duty members, and military families) to identify the needs and services that should be offered as their vision for a Virtual Environments assessable from any place in the world, any time, & with 24/7 emotional support. Sponsor a Vet Life (SAVL) wants you to discuss and decide the most effective services they can offer our brothers and sisters in arms as a Community to help provide emotional, financial, employment, and family challenges related to PTSD, TBI, MST, and the severely disabled. SAVL feels PTSD can be lowered if these services are provided during active duty deployments and extended periods of absence from their families through a 3D Immersive Interactive Virtual Active Duty Residential Communities.

Community is The Answer!

So many organizations and volunteers have the same goal; to help veterans, active duty and their families as a thank you for serving and protecting our country.

SAVL feels it should be up to you, the people who will benefit most from the virtual reality services to identify and provide feedback to make our virtual worlds solutions to many of the challenges faced by RP members.

Your Visions of what it would take for a “real life” fix, can be implemented in a customized virtual environment with no limitation for services, support or number of participants.

Let’s start a discussion on our new Forum to bring solutions for our military family today and not wait for answers from those who have not experienced what we feel.

I think that the best services would be along the line of transforming dreams to virtual reality COL Mikel J. Burroughs. Some type of service which could help coach somebody unfamiliar with design or CAD/CAM to describe something they would like to see created.

It would be nice to share a virtual space with family members and be able to visit with them in an environment that is as close as possible to to being there in person. Imagine being able to attend church with your family in a VR environment while your deployed or being able to watch your sons football game as if you were there in person.

Hmmm, well some of my skills include photography, graphic design, video editing, audio production and internet marketing. (and a bunch of other things that dont translate to well to digital) So..I dont know..what can I offer?

I know a few Vets that are looking for Alternative Medicine / Natural Healing information. They are tired of the Pill and other medication regiment and all the side effects that come with them. For those that haven't toured the V/R site, it is a great place to get help in many different areas and meet and talk with Family, Counselors, and other Military service members. There are also people in there that can help you with V.A. issues. I have found that you get the best Dope (information) on what is out there for you as far as help and other things Comes from Fellow Vets. COL Mikel J. Burroughs is great source of Information. I think the site is Great and is another tool you can use and keep in your toolbox of Resources you can turn to at anytime you need it.

There is a lot of evidence that recreating combat scenes for desensitization is effective. This would need to be done under the mastery of an experienced therapist (not me) though...

I don't know from the military perspective what kind of virtual programs are offered to their personnel and families. I do know that whatever they are the services offered for "family" should include significant others as identified or approved by the military member. I've been in some online civilian groups that have formed private FB sites for significant others of deployed military personnel where they could talk with each other, ask questions, learn about the process, express their concerns freely, suggest ways to keep busy and help each other with home repairs and other chores that need to be done that they haven't had experience with before. These groups are really helpful and make the young people at home for the first time feel a little more comfortable and less confused or scared.

Virtual Fishing, from Panfish to Bluewater for some. Ask the kids this one.....Heck they live in a virtual world most of the time anyway and they would have great input into what they see as normal Familial life.

Having a companion dog, as housing many only allow for service dogs. Individuals and families may want to interact with a dog, in addition to the horses available on the site.

There is a real need for this virtual Environment (possibly branch driven), everything needed to get the soldiers family the answers they need to survive a deployment. It should give advice like you stated like : understanding PTSD,TBI's, MST and much more that might be thought of that might help a members family deal with the deployment. There was a great amount of work started by some like: My Healthy Veteran. It is a start, and hope for more to come. They have to include: AD,USAR,NG personnel, all have questions that may need answers.

I'd love some sort of meditation or mindfulness experience where we could go to beautiful, peaceful places and go for walks or sit quietly and listen to nature sounds. Maybe the programs could have voice-guided meditations and/or music that could be turned on and off? In the middle of winter, oppressive heatwaves, or simply when socially isolating, I think this would be a really helpful experience. Does a VR program like this exist?

Air force. They fund space a quarters. Army it is NAF. The army does not pay NAF employees enough. The air force in part funds it by not having warrants anymore
