CERTAVET is a web based point of access to the tools needed for assisting in transitioning veteran's skill sets into industry certifications for civilian careers. The goal is to expand the site to include all military jobs that have a corresponding civilian certification.

Good question, PO2 Terry Friend. The first job that comes to mind is auto mechanic. I believe some military mechanics leave the service with certifications (or the equivalent in training) that could be translated into the civilian world of auto mechanics. There's been some talk of those certifications here on RallyPoint.

Thank you CW5 Scott Montgomery for the feed back. As we move forward with CERTAVET.org, auto mechanic will be one of the first added. If you have the time, I would appreciate feed back on our prototype website.

Really? I was a diesel mechanic with 3rd ACR. Unfortunately no recent work to be found, so I went oilfield.

This will be a battle that will continue throught the years. As long as we PCS and change the people keeping the records of individuals working in that unit; it will be hard to keep an up to date individuals record with their skills and work experience in their fields on a daily basis like the civilian market does unless we (combine military) come up with a computer data base to enter in work at the end of each day per military occupation field per individual unit and so on. Just my thought.
